Chapter 34 - A Single Mistake

As the loud thud sound clears another sound is soon heard throughout the entire library.

In a high-pitched and ragged voice.

The librarian speaks.

"You have broken the rules....

Now Die.... "

......

As Satya heard the sound.

Satya's eardrums pop and all sounds cease to exist.

Yet the vibration alone is enough to send him unconscious.

But he perseveres.

The entire library shakes.

Thud.

Thud.

Thud.

Something is walking.

And with each step it takes.

The entire library shivers.

Yet.

Not a single book falls.

Not a single shelf topples.

As Satya still looks ahead.

His world is devoid of any sound.

At the end of the hallway stands a Giant.

As Satya blinks.

It has already closed half the distance.

Satya blinks again.

And there it is.

Standing before him.

It raises its hand.

Then pushes it down as inhumane.

For a moment, it seems as though it will definitely crush Satya.

Then it does.

Satya didn't move left or right.

The librarian grins.

Seeing its prey die without resisting.

It seems pleased.

Then as he lifts his hand.

His grin is wiped off his face.

He grits his teeth.

As underneath his hands is nothing but Shadows.

At the same time in another corner of the library, that's filled with shadows.

[GET A GRIP, YOU STUPID MORON.]

The Shadow shouts inside Satya's mind.

"Huh, what happened?"

As the words leave Satya's mouth.

His mouth is covered by shadows.

[Shhhhh. It can hear you.]

...

Satya gains his focus but only slightly.

He feels he will definitely lose his focus the next moment.

So he quickly comes up with something.

"Antar Shuddhi"

As the words leave Satya's mind.

He gains a sense of clarity once again.

Then he finally senses what had gone wrong.

Thud.

Thud.

Thud.

The vibrations continue once again.

[Run... ]

The shadow says one last word and falls silent once again.

Satya follows his advice.

He starts running.

Yet not a single one of his footsteps is heard.

Satya looks to see that his robe has turned black.

But one thing terrifies him.

It's draining more and more with each step he takes.

[Shadow.... ]

...

No answer comes.

[Shadow.... ]

No answer comes once more.

[Shadow.... ]

Nothing answer his except silence.

As Satya is about to ask once again.

The Shadow interrupts him.

[What... ]

The Shadow asks with an annoyed tone.

[Why are you so silent during our entire time here?]

Satya asks still running.

[You.... I have been focusing all my focus and power on keeping you alive.

But you keep getting more and more hurt.

Now here you are asking questions of me. ]

The Shadow sounds disappointed.

[Oh]

Satya looks down, no answer coming to his mind.

Just then he stops.

From one shelf away, he senses an almost non-existent vibration.

Like something is trying to cover it up.

Satya's stomach churns and he quickly dives into a Shadow to his right.

Then.

A Giant walks past him.

He says something but Satya can't hear as his eardrums are broken.

The next second.

The dim light grows brighter.

All shadows in the library slowly start to vanish.

Satya feels as though the Shadows are terrified of the light growing powerful and running.

His Shadow sense is going wild from all the shadow movements.

His robe turns completely black once again.

Even his robe is losing its black faster in this light.

As Satya's robe has almost turned white.

He steps into a shadow and his robe completely turns white.

But he knows it will soon turn black once more.

Just then.

The shadow vanishes.

His robe turns completely white.

The next moment.

The entire building shakes violently.

Something is running.

Just then at the edge of his shadow sense.

Satya feels the shadow of a living being moving towards his shadow.

Satya didn't spare a second and started running away, the moment he had sensed it.

Then a chase starts inside the library.

The library which had once seemed finite.

Now stretches indefinitely.

Satya quickly turned right.

Stopping his momentum by a shelf.

Then using that momentum to shove the shelf on top of the librarian.

It gives Satya a moment of respite.

And that moment is enough to hide in one of the shrinking shadows.

It passes in front of him.

The ground shakes with every step.

Satya finally realized what was causing the quaking.

With every step of the librarian.

Cracks spread through the ground.

Yet as he passes by.

The cracks mend themselves the next second.

Satya looks everywhere, only to find rows and rows of selves.

The end or the beginning is nowhere in sight.

Satya realizes he is in a mirage.

Then the book comes into his mind.

"Mayabheda"

Satya tries to break the illusion, but to no avail.

The only thing it did was alert the librarian to his position.

So now begins the game of hide and seek.

Satya tries again and again to use the spell to break the mirage.

And the librarian tries to find him with the hint of the sounds.

Satya's situation is getting miserable by the moment.

Shadows are appearing less and less.

Soon.

Satya is in the last shadow all around.

The shadow is shrinking.

Faster than ever.

A brilliant light hits Satya's face.

The librarian is standing behind him.

In a last effort.

Satya closes his eyes and says.

"Mayabheda"

The sounds of the mirror breaking resound in the library.

Satya smirks.

The librarian's hand is about to hit his side.

Satya jumps.

As he opens his eyes.

The entrance is finally in sight.

But behind him floats the librarian.

Satya turns around and uses the librarian to push himself towards the end.

As Satya lands on a shelf.

The ground shakes and all the shelves start falling.

Satya is moving from shelf to shelf.

Avoids the falling Jenga selves.

The gate is just 5 meters away.

When a hammer falls in front of Satya.

And behind it walks the librarian.

"All of this over a single mistake..."

Satya says while throwing a whole shelf full of books.

The second the shelf touches the librarian.

Thousands of pages are scattered.

And Satya takes a step outside.

"You can keep the books."

{A single mistake costs a fortune.

But if you know how to run.

Both the fortune and the good end

Is yours to take.}
