Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 – The First Star of Gryffindor

Watching Ron approach the cat with murderous intent, Logan silently gave him a mental thumbs-up.

If he did not already know that the tabby cat was Professor McGonagall herself, he honestly might have admired Ron's courage.

What a warrior.

Unfortunately, this warrior was currently marching directly toward social suicide.

Logan reacted instantly and grabbed Ron by the back of his robes before disaster could unfold.

Ron stumbled backwards with a confused expression.

"Mate, why're you pulling me?" he asked. "I was just going to chase away that weird cat. I hate cats."

Logan looked at him solemnly.

"Brother," he said quietly, "I'm saving your life."

At the podium, the tabby cat's sharp eyes narrowed dangerously.

Logan sighed inwardly.

Ron truly was one step away from becoming Professor McGonagall's lifelong enemy.

Before Logan could explain further, the cat leapt gracefully from the desk.

Midair, its body twisted and transformed instantly.

A moment later, Professor McGonagall stood before the classroom in emerald robes and pointed hat, staring coldly toward Ron.

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Ron's soul nearly left his body.

His mouth slowly fell open as his brain desperately replayed every horrible sentence he had spoken moments earlier.

Harry looked at him sympathetically.

Ron, my friend…

You're finished.

After finding seats, the classroom quickly filled with first-year students. Before long, Professor McGonagall officially began the lesson.

Standing proudly at the front of the room, she addressed the class in a stern voice.

"Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic you will study at Hogwarts."

The atmosphere immediately grew serious.

"It is a discipline requiring precision, intelligence, and restraint. I have seen gifted students permanently damage themselves through carelessness."

Her sharp gaze swept across the room.

"Anyone foolish enough to disrupt my class or ignore instructions will leave immediately and may not return."

Then, very deliberately, her eyes landed on Ron.

"And certain students," she added calmly, "already possess my special attention."

Ron visibly wilted.

From that moment onward, he sat rigidly upright like a condemned criminal awaiting judgement.

Today's task seemed simple enough:

Transform a matchstick into a silver needle.

As Professor McGonagall explained the spell theory and casting methods in detail, a familiar notification suddenly echoed inside Logan's mind.

[Ding.]

[Sage Mode Activated.]

Instantly, an invisible grimoire appeared above Logan's head, spinning silently while mysterious energy flooded through his body and mind.

His thoughts sharpened.

Distractions vanished completely.

Everything became calm and perfectly clear.

[Learning Efficiency Increased.]

As Professor McGonagall continued explaining Transfiguration theory, Logan absorbed every detail at terrifying speed. The information converted directly into experience and understanding.

Soon, new text appeared within his system panel.

Magic Skills:Transfiguration Charm [Beginner]Wingardium Leviosa [Beginner]Lumos [Beginner]Scourgify [Beginner]Alohomora [Beginner]

Logan's eyes lit up immediately.

Excellent.

Transfiguration was directly connected to one of the forbidden spells he planned to develop later. That meant mastering this branch of magic had suddenly become a major priority.

He immediately decided to spend time in the library researching advanced Transfiguration after class.

Meanwhile, Professor McGonagall finally instructed everyone to begin practical casting.

Naturally, chaos followed.

"Uh…"

"Er…"

"Why isn't it working?"

Ron sat beside Logan with his face bright red while making increasingly questionable noises toward his completely unchanged matchstick.

Unfortunately, the matchstick ignored him entirely.

Ron looked devastated.

After all, he had genuinely hoped to perform well today and recover from nearly threatening to assault Professor McGonagall earlier.

Sadly, reality remained cruel.

Harry's results were not much better.

No matter how many times he attempted the spell, his matchstick refused to move at all.

In fact, aside from Hermione making slight progress nearby, nearly every student struggled terribly.

Professor McGonagall sighed softly and began walking around the classroom observing everyone's attempts.

Eventually, her attention landed on Logan Anderson.

The student she had been anticipating most.

Logan calmly picked up his matchstick with one hand.

Then he quietly murmured the incantation.

Professor McGonagall frowned immediately.

Where was his wand?

Anderson… where is your wand?

For one alarming moment, she genuinely considered marching over and reprimanding him.

Even talented students could not simply ignore proper magical procedure.

Then the impossible happened.

The matchstick in Logan's hand shimmered softly.

A moment later, it transformed completely into a flawless silver needle.

Perfectly polished.

Perfectly shaped.

Perfectly successful.

Professor McGonagall froze.

"Oh my goodness…"

She hurried forward in complete disbelief before grabbing Logan's hands excitedly.

"This is extraordinary!"

The entire classroom stared in shock.

Transforming a matchstick successfully during the very first lesson already proved exceptional talent.

But that was not what truly stunned Professor McGonagall.

It was the casting method.

Wandless Transfiguration.

Even many fully trained adult wizards could not perform that consistently.

And yet an eleven-year-old first-year student had just done it casually inside his very first class.

Professor McGonagall's eyes practically shone.

"Amazing," she whispered. "Absolutely amazing…"

The surrounding students immediately exploded into whispers.

Although most first-years lacked a proper understanding of wandless magic, they still understood one thing clearly:

Logan Anderson was absurdly talented.

At the front of the room, Hermione stared at Logan intensely.

Unlike the others, she had already researched wandless casting independently before arriving at Hogwarts.

She knew exactly how advanced this technique truly was.

But rather than feeling discouraged, Hermione's competitive spirit ignited even harder.

Good.

Excellent.

A rival worth surpassing.

Hermione Granger absolutely refused to lose academically to anyone.

Especially not Logan Anderson.

One day, she promised herself silently, she would master wandless casting too.
