Logan nearly choked.
How had this suddenly become his problem?
One second Snape had been targeting Harry, and the next the Potions Master's attention had shifted directly onto him.
After Harry's outburst, Snape slowly turned his cold gaze toward Logan.
"Ah yes," he said softly, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I nearly forgot. Gryffindor appears to have produced a rather extraordinary student this year."
His dark eyes narrowed slightly.
"A young wizard capable of casting magic without a wand. A child already gaining attention throughout Hogwarts for his remarkable magical talent."
The classroom fell completely silent.
Even the Slytherins looked interested now.
Snape folded his hands behind his back. "Tell me then, Mr Anderson. Since your abilities are apparently so exceptional, perhaps you would care to answer the questions I just asked?"
Ding~
A system notification suddenly exploded inside Logan's head.
Mission Generated.
Mission Objective: Change Professor Snape's opinion of you.
Mission Description: During Potions class, Severus Snape cast his malicious gaze upon the Gryffindor students like a lurking predator. As darkness spread through the dungeon classroom, he eventually targeted you—the future's greatest duelling wizard. Use your extraordinary abilities to alter Snape's perception of you.
Mission Rewards:
Legend Point ×1
Dragon-Tiger Root ×1
Logan almost became emotional.
Professor Snape…
What an incredible human being.
He was practically a walking treasure chest.
As for this "Dragon-Tiger Root," Logan had absolutely no idea what it was, but anything rewarded by the system had to be valuable.
Most importantly, this mission looked incredibly easy.
Logan immediately stood up.
"Asphodel root powdered together with wormwood creates a powerful sleeping potion known as the Draught of Living Death," he answered calmly. "A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and serves as a powerful antidote to many poisons."
He paused briefly.
"And there is no difference between monkshood and wolfsbane. They are the same plant, both commonly referred to as aconite."
The dungeon classroom became completely silent.
Even Hermione looked impressed.
A trace of surprise flickered through Snape's expression before disappearing almost instantly.
"Well," he said slowly, "it seems your name truly is Logan Anderson."
His eyes drifted briefly toward Harry.
"You are evidently quite different from Mr Potter beside you."
Harry looked personally betrayed.
Unfortunately for Logan, Snape clearly wasn't finished yet.
The Potions Master immediately began firing additional questions at him—ingredients, brewing procedures, potion classifications, antidote usage, magical herb properties, and basic alchemical reactions.
Fortunately, Logan had spent a large portion of his summer cramming potion theory books like a madman. Combined with the enhancements from the system, he managed to answer every question Snape threw at him.
Barely.
If Snape had asked anything significantly deeper, Logan probably would have collapsed on the spot.
Then—
Ding~
Mission complete.
Rewards obtained:
Legend Point ×1
Dragon-Tiger Root ×1
Logan's mood instantly improved.
Wonderful.
Snape truly was a good professor.
At this rate, Logan was seriously considering spending more time studying Potions in the future just to continue farming rewards from Hogwarts' resident dungeon bat.
Snape clasped his hands together slowly.
"As expected of a student capable of wandless magic," he said coldly. "You possess at least a minimal level of competence."
Then his expression darkened instantly.
"So why," he snapped suddenly, "has nobody else written any of this down yet?"
The entire classroom jumped.
"A collection of absolute idiots," Snape continued viciously. "I am practically placing gold directly into your hands, and all you can do is stare blankly into space."
The students immediately scrambled to scribble notes as quickly as possible.
Quills scratched frantically across parchment throughout the dungeon.
Snape swept his robes dramatically behind him.
"For Mr Anderson's excellent performance, Gryffindor will receive ten points."
The Gryffindors instantly brightened.
Then Snape continued.
"However, because Mr Potter failed to answer even the simplest questions, and because the irritating girl behind him insisted on disrupting my classroom by waving her hand around like an overexcited windmill…"
Snape's lip curled.
"Gryffindor will lose twenty points."
The Gryffindor students froze in complete disbelief.
Hermione looked ready to explode.
She glared furiously at Snape's back, but since attacking professors was generally discouraged at Hogwarts, she redirected her frustration elsewhere.
Specifically, into Logan's back.
Pinch.
Pinch.
Pinch.
Logan nearly jumped out of his seat.
Why was she pinching him?!
Snape was the one deducting points!
If she wanted revenge, she should go attack the dungeon bat himself!
Nearby, Ron watched Hermione and Logan's strangely close interaction with growing misery. His expression became increasingly gloomy throughout the lesson.
The remainder of Potions class focused on brewing a basic cure for boils.
Under Snape's instructions, students began chopping dried nettles, crushing snake fangs, handling horned slugs, and carefully measuring porcupine quills into their cauldrons.
Most students struggled terribly.
Neville nearly melted his cauldron twice.
Seamus accidentally set his sleeve on fire.
Malfoy loudly mocked everyone around him while somehow producing a potion that smelled suspiciously like burnt socks.
Meanwhile, the two fastest students in the entire class were Logan Anderson and Hermione Granger.
The pair completed their potions far ahead of everyone else.
Snape inspected their work with visible reluctance before finally announcing, "Five points to Gryffindor."
Hermione looked triumphant for approximately twelve seconds.
Then Harry accidentally laughed at something Ron whispered nearby.
Snape immediately deducted fifteen more points from Gryffindor.
Hermione looked moments away from fainting.
While stirring his potion, Logan suddenly heard another familiar series of system notifications echo inside his mind.
Potion Making skill unlocked.
Magical Skills:
Potion Making [Beginner]
Shield Charm [Beginner]
Transfiguration [Beginner]
Wingardium Leviosa [Beginner]
Lumos [Beginner]
Logan blinked in surprise.
So the system recognised potion-making as an actual skill too?
Originally, he had assumed potion-making was simply an academic discipline requiring theoretical understanding, practical experience, and endless experimentation. Yet the system had apparently converted the entire art into a measurable magical skill.
Honestly, this was amazing news.
As long as he continued studying potion theory and practising brewing techniques, he could steadily gain experience and level up his potion-making abilities.
At higher levels, perhaps his brewing success rate would become absurdly high.
Maybe eventually he could even create potions perfectly every single time.
The thought alone was terrifying.
.....
At lunchtime, the Gryffindor table radiated misery.
Harry aggressively cut apart the steak on his plate as though imagining Snape's face attached to it.
The more he cut, the angrier he became.
"I seriously don't understand why Snape hates Gryffindor so much," Harry muttered darkly. "Actually, forget Gryffindor. I think he specifically hates me."
Ron immediately agreed.
"Exactly! Logan and Hermione earned points fair and square, and Snape just stole them back using you as an excuse."
He lowered his voice dramatically.
"And Malfoy messed up loads of times in class, but Snape pretended not to notice. It's obvious he can't stand Gryffindor students being better than Slytherins."
Ron crossed his arms proudly.
"He's clearly abusing his authority as Head of Slytherin."
Logan silently ate his food.
Ron wasn't entirely wrong.
Just… not entirely right either.
The main issue was still Harry himself.
If Harry somehow transformed into Lily Potter overnight, Snape would probably start showering Gryffindor with bonus points like confetti.
Unfortunately, Logan valued his continued survival and therefore chose not to share that theory aloud.
At that exact moment—
BOOM!
A loud explosion suddenly erupted nearby.
The entire Great Hall jumped in alarm.
After the smoke cleared, everyone discovered Seamus Finnigan standing beside a shattered goblet with black soot covering half his face.
Apparently, he had attempted to use magic to turn water into wine.
Instead, the water had exploded.
The Great Hall burst into laughter.
Even Professor McGonagall looked exhausted.
Meanwhile, Logan fell into thought.
In the magical world, spell strength clearly depended on more than raw magical power and technical mastery. Special magical items could amplify spells, yes—but there also seemed to be another mysterious factor.
Intent.
Emotion.
Desire.
The stronger the wizard's will, the stronger the resulting magic sometimes became.
It was absurdly idealistic, yet the magical world repeatedly demonstrated evidence supporting that theory.
Perhaps Seamus's explosion had resulted from instability in his spellcasting process. Or perhaps his subconscious expectations had altered the spell itself.
The deeper Logan thought about magic, the more terrifyingly complex it became.
Unfortunately, such profound mysteries were currently far beyond him.
At the very least, there was one thing he knew for certain.
Once he successfully completed the forbidden spell he had envisioned…
He would become the coolest wizard in Hogwarts.
.....
After classes ended, Logan immediately examined the strange reward he had received from the system.
The Dragon-Tiger Root looked oddly similar to ginseng from his previous life, except its shape was bizarre. The upper section resembled a dragon's head, while the lower half curved like a crouching tiger.
According to the system description:
Dragon-Tiger Root:
Can substitute for any potion ingredient during brewing, provided all remaining ingredients are authentic.
Logan's eyes widened.
This thing was absurd.
It couldn't create potions out of thin air, since all other materials still needed to be genuine, but the root could replace any single ingredient.
Any ingredient.
That level of versatility made its value almost impossible to estimate.
At first, based on the name alone, Logan had expected some kind of body-enhancing magical herb capable of making someone physically invincible.
He had even briefly considered whether he should abandon traditional wizard combat entirely and pursue the path of a magical martial artist instead.
Imagine defeating a troll with a single punch like some elderly wizard berserker.
Unfortunately, reality proved less dramatic.
Still, the system rewards continued proving unbelievably useful.
But rewards alone weren't enough.
Logan still needed to work hard himself.
After mastering the Shield Charm recently, he had already selected his next target.
The Disillusionment Charm.
Ever since arriving at Hogwarts, Logan had desperately wanted to experience true invisibility. A spell like that would make countless situations dramatically easier.
Of course, he also knew the spell would be difficult.
The Disillusionment Charm was typically used by Aurors and highly trained wizards, meaning it was undoubtedly more advanced than the Shield Charm.
But Logan wasn't worried.
After all…
He was cheating.
