Cedric and Noelle rode their broom toward the northwest. Explosions lit up the city like twisted fireworks, leaving behind a desolate atmosphere.
"These attackers are strange… they all look like ordinary people," Noelle said, frowning.
Cedric pulled her slightly closer by the waist.
"Noelle, call me husband when we're alone," he said with a faint smirk. "And this aura… it's coming from corpses. Those things below are zombies."
"Zombies…" Noelle shivered and instinctively buried herself into Cedric's chest, seeking comfort.
Cedric glanced down at her soft body pressed against him, his hand tightening just slightly around her waist.
"Relax… I'm here. Nothing's touching you while I'm around."
"Tree Magic: Seven-Colored Bread Tree"
A massive tree rose into the air.
Cedric sat atop one of its branches, a harp appearing in his hands.
Soft music began to flow.
"Da-la-la-la-la-la, a thousand years of slumber."
"Da-la-la-la-la-la, the prosperous earth."
"The pure white dragon rises into the sky, scattering radiant dew across the land."
"Sharing the fruits of life, coexisting in harmony, the earth awakens anew."
"Red moon and pale moon, weaving the endless night."
"A song of prosperity that stretches beyond the sea of stars."
"Tree Magic: Song of Prosperity"
The melody spread across the battlefield.
It restored mana.
It calmed hearts.
It erased fear.
Even the undead below began to still.
One by one, the zombies stopped moving, their twisted forms gradually settling… as if finally finding peace.
Cedric plucked the final note and exhaled softly.
"Good… tuning complete."
Noelle stared at him in a daze.
The man before her looked almost divine.
Calm.
Gentle.
Unreachable.
And yet he was hers.
Her cheeks flushed as she looked away shyly.
Meanwhile…
"Wah… it looks like everyone's gone."
Charmy Pappitson slowly crawled out from under a table.
Her eyes immediately locked onto the food.
"Food!"
She began devouring everything in sight at terrifying speed.
"So good… so good…!"
Within moments, the entire table was empty.
"Head Chef, don't go outside! There are enemies everywhere!" someone shouted.
"No. My main dish hasn't been served yet. There must be a Magic Knight waiting for it."
The curly-haired chef pushed the door open.
Outside, he saw a tiny girl licking a plate clean.
That cloak…
A Magic Knight.
"See? A Magic Knight is still here. Someone is waiting for my cooking. I'm going back to prepare the main course. Don't stop me."
He turned to Charmy.
"Magic Knight, if you protect us, I will present my finest dish."
Charmy's eyes sparkled.
Food?
She immediately followed them without hesitation.
The scene looked suspiciously like someone luring a child away with snacks.
"Hey, little girl… do you like the Clover Kingdom?"
A ragged man with a gray eyepatch cornered a young girl.
She nodded timidly.
"But I hate it," he said coldly.
"This world claims magic is everything, yet my power was denied. If they won't accept me… then I'll destroy everything."
His hand reached out toward her.
"Then disappear along with this kingdom you love."
"Ahhh! Stop, you pervert!"
Asta burst in, smashing through a group of zombies, with Leopold Vermillion right behind him.
"So that's Anti-Magic…" the man muttered. "My undead were wiped out so easily."
"Power is power, so why wasn't mine recognized? They even kicked me out of the Magic Knights."
He raised his hand.
More zombies emerged.
"Looks like your Magic Knights can't save you," he sneered at the girl. "Now disappear from this world."
He condensed a magic orb and approached her with a twisted grin.
"Not happening."
Asta dashed forward, grabbing the girl by the waist.
"Run somewhere safe!"
"How touching," the man mocked.
"Protecting a corrupt kingdom and that useless king. Under a true leader, this country would have hope. Right now, it's rotten."
No.4 Jimmy appeared—a bandaged corpse surrounded by floating magic bullets.
They fired rapidly.
Even with Anti-Magic, Asta was hit multiple times.
Blood began to flow.
"Hahaha! Jimmy's attacks carry cursed energy. Your wounds won't stop bleeding."
Asta gritted his teeth, gripping his swords.
"Asta, you're amazing! I'm joining in!" Leopold shouted as he unleashed flames.
"Fire Magic: Spiral Flame"
Twin pillars of fire shot toward the enemy.
No.1 Karl appeared and absorbed the flames, forming a barrier.
"My Karl specializes in magic barriers. You can't touch me."
The battle reached a stalemate.
Elsewhere, most battle zones had already been cleared.
Fodder was still fodder, no matter how many there were.
"Noelle, we don't need to help the other areas," Cedric said calmly, his hand still resting on her waist, thumb tracing lightly against her side.
"The Silver Eagles, Crimson Lion Kings, and Blue Rose captains aren't weak."
He leaned slightly closer to her ear.
"Besides… I'd rather spend this time with you."
Noelle's body stiffened instantly, her face turning bright red.
"Asta… I can't hold on much longer!" Leopold shouted.
"Don't give up! To become the Wizard King, we have to surpass our limits!" Asta stabbed himself twice with his sword.
"What the hell…?" Leopold froze.
The cursed energy disappeared.
"Good… now I can fight properly."
Asta charged forward recklessly, cutting himself whenever he was hit, forcing the cursed energy out.
He reached the enemy and swung his blade.
Blood splattered.
"No.2 Alfred!"
Lightning exploded around Asta, striking him repeatedly.
Already weakened, he struggled to stay standing.
"You've done enough."
A powerful voice descended.
Fuegoleon Vermillion appeared.
"Brother!" Leopold shouted.
"You did well. Leave the rest to me."
"Fire Creation Magic: Roar of the Flame Lion"
A massive lion of fire roared forward, instantly destroying one of the zombies.
The overwhelming power stunned everyone present.
"It's over," Fuegoleon said calmly.
"Fire Magic: Radiance of the Little Sun"
A blazing light pierced through the barrier.
"Impossible!" the enemy shouted.
"You rely too much on your constructs. Their defense weakens when they attack," Fuegoleon said coldly.
"Flame Restraint Magic: Flame Lion's Paw"
The enemy was captured instantly.
"Valtos! Save me!" he screamed.
A distortion appeared.
Spatial Magic activated.
Fuegoleon was suddenly swallowed by the void.
"Next… we leave it to that man."
Across the capital, spatial distortions appeared everywhere.
Magic Knights were dragged away one by one.
"Spatial Magic…"
Cedric's grimoire suddenly glowed.
A surge of mana surrounded him and Noelle.
The two vanished just before the spatial distortion could consume them.
