Chapter 31 - THE RING OF TRUTH.

The palace became a place of rumor and uproar. All palace workers ranging from the lowest cedar to the highest officer were all forcefully summoned.

The door to the palace court got instantly locked. Isla flaunted her way in.

What the hell was happening?

That became the inevitable question of the day. Jay heart began to pound hard like a pendulum clock.

The deep but silent footstep of Isla pinned a nail in his heart. As always, she majestically walks towards the king, paying homage to the monarch.

Jay had a bad feeling about this. His mind wasn't at rest.

He was well aware. A princess like Isla was up to no good. Everything about her was absolutely cunning. The smiles! The look! even her walking posture command wickedness.

She doesn't believe in coincidence, she moves with ulterior motive.

Attention everyone! Isla shouted at the top of her voice, trying to bring them all to an accord.

I know you all must be wondering why you were summoned.

I am deeply sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

But trust me, we here for the greater good. The workers mumbled among themselves,

whispering what could be called gibberish into each others ear.

Can we maintain silence, Isla said trying to bring the court to decorum.

I know you all must be aware of Albion greatest treasure. The trident!

Perhaps, not everyone but a few of you must be aware that the ancient trident is missing.

The workers stirred up mumbling. They murmured out unreasonable opinion.

Isla raised up her left hand, ushering the mumbled workers to stay silent.

I made my research, went through series of sleepless night.

My findings led me to a very shocking revelation.

The trident is here. It right inside the four wall of the palace.

Jay heart skipped as the last words came out of Isla lips. His hand suddenly began trembling involuntarily. Who on earth was Isla.

He knew she wasn't just a princess but he never for once pictured her as a typical soothsayer.

Isla ordered the immediate coronation of the mystery box.

She placed her hand on it and slowly opened it. Inside the mystery box was a grey little ring.

The ring shone like a crescent moon.

She slowly picked up the ring and inserted it on her right hand, the third finger to be precise.

As you can see, she began, making the ring obvious to the audience.

It a ring but not the usual type.

It called the "RING OF TRUTH"

It an enchanted one. The regular audience murmuring came back alive but was cut short by a fat old woman who happens to be a palace cleaner.

Am I allowed to ask questions, the old woman requested.

Yes of course, question are totally allowed, Isla replied. The old woman cleared her throat and proceeded.

The ring you showing us, is it a magic ring? Oh yes, it is.

It fully magic and it only says the truth, Isla clarified everyone.

Now, the ritual shall begin.

Isla smiled mischievously. She raised her head towards the sky and closed her eye, enchanting out series of magical words in language no one understood.

Her bidy shivered, trembling tremendously like she was about to go epileptic.

Isla suddenly paused, standing still. One would think her soul had travelled out of her body.

Finally she blazed her eye open, breathing so heavy.

Now the deed is done. She had successfully invoked the "SPIRIT OF TRUTH"

Hannah pulled the ring out of her finger and poked it into the thin air, practically disobeying every law that bounds gravity.

Now that you have been invoked, Go... and reveal the culprit.

Isla snapped her finger, commanding the ring to proceed into action. The ring obeyed and slowly, it flew forward like a flying dragon, shining it grey light on the suspected culprit.

Hannah became distressed. She couldn't withstand Jay getting caught.

She knew him so well. He wasn't as bad as people painted him to be. She bit her finger anxiously, silently praying for Jay to pass the ring test.

Jay could hear a feminine voice whispering loud into his mind.

Jayyyyyyyyyy, the voice called out. I know you can hear me.

Stop the pretense for a minute. Isla! That was her!

She spoke to Jay, communicating through the frequency of the mind.

Her lips made no movement but her mind did the job.

Don't try to fight it, the voice continued.

Jay mind had slashed into two divided parts. He thought about Cole.

What would be the fate of the man who had saw and treated him as a son.

He had loved him unconditionally.

What would be the fate of such man? He needed no one to tell him. He knew what the future had in place for Cole . He would be labeled not as a great hunter who had served and guided Albion with his life.

Instead, he will be portrayed has a foolish father who birthed and raised a rebellious son.

If caught, Jay knew what lies ahead of him.

But for how long would he hide himself.

The universe had blessed him with a gift others would sacrifice anything and everything for.

It more like running away from your shadow.

You can't outrun neither deny what you are.

Just like Cole once said.

With great power comes great responsibility. If he wanted to, he could command the ring to pass him by but what would that solve, Nothing!

The ring rotated round the workers and came to rest at Jay, oozing out an alarm laser right at his forehead.

The crowd mumbled in surprise. Jay was the culprit.

Isla marveled at the end result of her great plan. She had once again proved her worth as a reliable architect. The king was forced to stand up from his throne.

He walks towards Jay, glazing unbelievable at him.

It was you, the king pronounced. You stole the trident. The king chuckled in disbelieve.

I always knew something was fishy about the strange son of Cole but I just couldn't figure out what.

Jay felt his heart burning in smoke. He hated himself for this.

This would cost I'm a lot, perhaps his life.

Guards! The king ordered. Take this rebel out of my sight.

The hefty palace guards bounced Jay out of the palace court.

Hannah couldn't withstand Jays arrest. She ran after the guards.

Stop! You can't take him away, she yelled out in tears.

The guards grabbed Hannah, forcing her back into the palace court.
