Chapter 9 - BUILD A FUTURE, DON’T BUY IT

The only existing man to know of Jay great ability was Cole. The cat was safely hidden inside the bag. Even the fellow hunters have no knowledge of the power possessed by the little champ.

With such great power, no one can be trusted, not even the hunting squad. Men change as time pass by. The heart is not a transparent organ, it innerly built.

Cole strictly warned him not to let down his guard by exposing his arm in public. The hidden secret must not be known to a third party. Jay was yet to master his abilities. His newfound power felt like a stranger who requires an introduction. Although Cole was his guardian but he wasn't a jungle lord.

There are limitations to what he could teach Jay. He wasn't the one with the great power. He doesn't control animal, he kills. On a sunny day, Cole decided to step out and have some fun.

Going out wasn't the issue, but Jay had only one problem with Cole outing and it the fact that he always left Jay alone at home, restraining him from stepping outside the compound.

This was a total embarrassment and intentional slavery, Jay thought. All effort by Jay to find out why Cole was hell bent on taking him out never proved productive. It killing him inside! Staying indoor was doing more harm than good. There is no way Cole expects him in becoming a playmate with the horses, they were animals, not human.

Now Cole was out as usual, leaving him with loads of work to do at home. He wasn't a prisoner neither is he a runaway slave taking solace in Cole house. An idea popped up into his brain.

It wasn't going to be a bad decision if he poked a stick into Cole rules by disobeying it.

What about the aftermath? He thought. But why should he worry about an event that his yet to happen.

As Cole would say, the future is a result of the moves and decisions we make. He developed little courage with those quote and dashed out of the apartment. The street was a total definition of madness. He found it hard to know why everyone walking pass all seems to be possessed by an evil spirit. The voice of the marketers were as loud as a roaring storm.

From the meat butcher to the blacksmith straight down to the fabric seller. Everyone seems to be out of their freaking mind. Judging by the level of human purchasing the little pedestrian foot path , if one mistakenly fall on his knees, there are high chances of been stumped to death.

A certain event caught his attention, he instantly ran towards the arena and was amazed by what he saw. The scene wasn't too clear to him but his eyes could faintly sight two hefty men in the fighting ring and above them was a man shouting at the top of his voice, acting like someone who is been taking over by the influence of alcohol.

His voice was deep, resonating very loud. Ladies and gentleman, the man began. Place down your bet now, the competition will start in less than five minutes, place your bet down, he restated making emphasis on the word NOW. The arena was so crowded, every Tom and dick were present, all trying to place their bet on the both men.

He could hardly see the men inside the fighting ring. He was so curious, wanting to have a view of who the winner would be. The only way to catch a clear view of the fight was going upstairs, he smiled at himself, applauding his self intelligence, little did he know that the stairs was a prohibited area.

On getting the stairs, some hefty men showed up. Their muscles were much larger than that of Cole, this was the first point that scares Jay. The men weren't frowning neither were they smiling. They just maintained a void face. Jay was confused! Were the men on orders or just stood still with the aim of the getting him pissed off.

The large muscles and tissues signifies them as a bouncer. But Jay didn't care, once again he believed he was right as long as he follows his instinct which could or would definitely land him in big danger. He heaved a sigh inhaling his breath as a symbol of confidence and without much reluctance he ran toward the men, intending to break through them but the men made him realize it was a terrible idea.

He was threw out of their sight , landing his left bony buttock on the floor as he gave a sharp pain. What a rude move by the men, he thought. Do they know who they messing with.

He can't believe he a junior rank hunting officer was just humiliated and mortified in such an embarrassing way. Perhaps he had to pull some stunt so as to inform them he was no regular boy.

Jay sprang into action, pulled his leg backward a little from his initial spot and aimed for the men, galloping way above their heads, using them as a tools and and scaling through their infinite defense. The men went after him, he knew he was definitely in an ocean of trouble and swimming out would be a difficult task, yet he must not go out without a fish.

Catch me if you can, he shouted in jest, multiplying the volume of anger in the men.

Jay bursted into the last room at the edge of the building, putting them to a hunting race of cat and rat. Comparing his height and physique to that of the men was like equating a Gorilla and a monkey. The guest who came to watch the fight were all amazed by Jay dear devil gymnastic stunt. It looked very professional.

But the bouncers reinforced outnumbering Jay, thereby giving him less chances of escaping. The men grabbed him by the waist, pulling him out of the room. Let me go, Jay shouted.

You all don't know who you messing with. You going to regret this, he shouted at the top of his voice struggling from the grip.

None of this would stop the men from punishing I'm in the public. Not after the stress he pulled them through. He was about to be thrown down the stairs when a voice put the men to a halt.

Wait! The voice ordered. The men face back and alas! right in front of them was the city best hunter, Cole. Jay was surprised to see him. A mixture of sadness and excitement overtook him.

He accurately planned and calculated his outing and getting spotted by Cole wasn't a part of it.

Do you know who you holding, Cole challenged the men in a harsh tone of superiority.

No sir, they responded, with their knees trembling in fear. The men were in a total state of astonishment. They immediately let go off Jay, pleading profusely for mercy.

Cole discarded the men, getting them out of his sight. Jay felt like a prince about to be coronated by his father. He had never felt so much pride and respect till now but there was definitely a problem. Cole wasn't smiling. He knew he was in a lake of fire. Only God know what punishment would be assigned to him.

C—o—le, he began in an attempt to explain himself but was cut short by Cole loud laughter.

Jay was surprised, you not angry? He asked. No, im not, Cole responded. There's is no way I can get furious at a jungle lord, he said spreading his arms apart in description.

As I have always told you, the future is an outcome of the moves and decision you make . Do not buy a future kid, build one.
