Chapter 8 - GREAT POWER GREAT RESPONSIBILITY

The explanatory quote illustrated by Cole sank faintly into Jay head. He felt like a wolf king abandoned by his pack. Now the whole story was shaping in and forming a sensible meaning. That feeling that governs your mind, waking up one day and tuning into a new chapter of reality you find very hard to decline.

The power he acquired was a blessing from the heavens but it a chronic poison to human existence . Well, that not totally true or authentic, it a product of what was stitched into their skull.

Having to cremate yourself and true identity from anyone and everyone is an issue that bothers the heart. He can't trust anyone! In fact, he dare not! All he had to do was to take asylum beneath the sparkling glow of the sun.

The universe has entrusted him with such great power in order to save humanity from their deteriorating existence flashing right at their face but at what cost exactly. How would he save a world who's individual would go any length to experience his downfall.

Their eyes were naked but yet, they refused to see the looming calamity about to befall them.

His brain were thinking too fast, coordinating endless possibility in less than a milli per seconds.

The hairy part of his leg failed to rise, it kept itself hidden, symbolizing fear. His heart pounds very fast as that of a restless rat. He couldn't keep it in any longer and was about to burst it all out when Cole miraculously showed up, arresting his anxiety with his presence. "Thank God" he exclaimed silently.

Cole was more than a father figure to him. Although, there is no way one could deny the fact that he was a harsh, hardened and a very discipline man.

He never for once publish his chapter of weakness. A man who always display wisdom, strength and bravery. But somewhere buried deep down his shallow mind was pain, agony and regrets. His facial structure and character fails to show any slight sense of compassion but somewhere hidden in his mind was love and sympathy.

Cole was a father, a guardian and a teacher. The hunter drew the wooden stool next to Jay and sat, giving a heavy sigh. I would love to tell you a story kid. Would you love to listen? Jay nodded in alliance. Cole chuckled for a seconds and began.

About three centuries ago, there lived a man who works as an assistant chef in the place. He was kind spirited, gentle as a dove and was as calm as a moving snail. The universe blessed him with three kids. His wife was no more. During cooking session organized by the master chef, his food was the most condemned. It tasted so bad and awful.

The rest of the crew symbolized his existence in the palace with jest and mockery. They saw him as a useless piece of rag, a weakling whose claws are mild and harmless. While other chefs showcased their heroic knife cutting ability, he would cut so slow and sluggishly, making them believe he was the black sheep among them.

There arose a cooking competition organized by the palace aimed at coronating a new master chef, following the retirement ceremony of the current leader. The palace was in a state of array.

All chefs were obviously eager. They all wanted to step into the corridor of power.

A draw box was organized , whatsoever delicacy you fell into would be your take on the D- day.

They were told to select themselves in a team of two but there was no group for the dullard chef. Practically no one wants to associate or partner with a cursed man. Competition and conspiracy triggered among them all, with one group wishing for the other downfall, they all had tricky and cunning plans to secretly eliminate their opponent but none was concerned about the dullard chef.

They saw him as an empty barrel. No doubt, he is a weakling and would definitely be the first to get knocked out of the competition. His humble and sluggish mode as kept them all completely off guard. He was belittled. Seen as an empty threat who couldn't even pull a stunt. The draw box result was openly published , all groups with their dish.

The dullard chef was the one with the most difficult task, they all laughed at him with full knowledge of how hard it is synchronizing such delicacy. The outgoing master chef remains the only one to prepare such dish with perfection. They inflicted his confidence with negative words and claimed it as an understandable note of advice.

He was told to withdraw from the competition so as to save himself from the unbearable embarrassment. The chef kept calm, refusing to give their word a chance to mingle with his mind. The great day came. All team looking so keen and eager in delivery a mouth washing dish. They all wanted the position, fully enticed and bribed by the flattering benefit that follows.

The time ticked on, counting it arrow and ironically whispering to the chefs to spring into action.

It was a thirty minutes of deciding who the cap fit. The dullard chef picked up his cooking knife and flipped the board over, swinging into action. He rolled and controlled the knife professionally, cutting through any recipe like a full time butcher.

The team were astonished! It felt like an imagination, they couldn't believe their eyes.

How on earth can the popular dullard chef be this good and skilled with the knife. The clock ticked so fast, resurrecting anxiety and fear into their minds. As the saying goes, time wait for no man! You will always have to catch up with it.

The clock ticked it last minute gossiping to the chefs to round things up. Each team came to the palace chamber to expose the aroma concealed inside their respective dish. To their greatest surprise, the king commended and praised the Dullard chef. The king announced him winner of the competition. The enemy all buried their head in shame and regrets. He was crowned the palace new master chef.

Jay was touched by Cole story. So he was able to succeed through his sense of wisdom and humility, Jay pinpointed.

Cole nodded in agreement. Do not ever underestimate yourself kid. Be divergent as a chameleon, as brave as a lion and as wise as a tortoise because with great powers comes great responsibility. The Hunter told his son.
