Chapter 7 - THE JUNGLE LORD

Cole sat on his old looking resting chair, made of wood. He sank into the legendary chair like a king who just received the news of his son demise. Beside him was a bottle of jar filled with red wine.

The jar was a pleasant treasure to him. Ever since he lost his wife and daughter in a battle, the jar has been his only iota of hope and redemption.

The content inside of it, serves as a painkiller. He would drink excessively and the shadow of his sorrows partially fades away. He had always thought, if there could be any form of remedy to his written fate. He couldn't bare the thought of engaging another woman, let alone giving birth.

He still held the image of his wife and daughter in his mind, every single day.

He hopes and pray earnestly, hoping one day he will find her. But todays case was different.

He only sank on that chair anytime his brain decided to taunt him with the unfortunate event of the past. What he saw was mind breaking, absolutely impossible for any human to do.

How on earth could a sixteen year old kid pull such stunt. What he did was beyond the ordinary.

Controlling the mind of an animal was a special ability only a jungle lord can perform.

Been a jungle lord is no joke at all. It was an amplified skills acquired from birth. As history would have it, a jungle lord owns the jungle, commanding all animals with the look of it eye.

They were like treasure, so rare to find or see. It wasn't common, only few who are choose were gifted with such power. Myth says it an natural trait given by the creator.

About a thousand year ago, during the eleventh century. There were quite some numbers of jungle lords. The kingdom treats them with respect and sincere dignity, depending solemnly on them during the times of war. The incumbent king died and there arose a new king who obviously has a different motive and unjustifiable hatred toward the jungle lords.

He felt like a pauper sitting in the throne, seeing the existence of the jungle lords has a threat to the royal home. He was patronized by fear, taken over by greed and unnecessary jealousy.

He feared they would one day come together and annihilate him from his precious throne.

The thought of this gave him sleepless night and obstructed his mind from laying at rest.

He summoned the elders and superiors of the land to seek their advice and opinion. As he had expected, the elders failed to support his suicide plot. They saw no reasonable or eligible reason why the jungle lords should be condemned. Only three of the eighteen elders were fully in support of the king. Their greed and unsatisfiable desire made them let the truth slide by the door. All they wanted was power, an increase in position but the king was too oblivious to see it.

All advice giving to him by the elders fell on deaf ear. He turned down their words, discarding it as gibberish. After all, he was the king. His decision is final. No one dares question his authority, he had no valid reason why he should adhere to the word of the so called foolish elders. And without much hesitation, he requested for the immediate presence of the jungle lords, inviting them to dine with him, claiming he has an important and cogent information to pass to them.

This was the only way he could get them all together without much strain or stress.

Unluckily for the virtuous men, they failed to smell the danger that awaits them. His father, the former king was a righteous man. He treats them with so much enthusiasm. They had strong believe that the current king would surely inherited the trait of his father but they were wrong.

Only if they knew about his gruesome suicidal plan, they would have fled for their life as far as they could, but the good deed of the father had clothed the son wickedness from going naked.

The special day came. All jungle lords were present at the palace. The king instructed them to join him at the royal dining table.

They all graced the occasion with joy and merry in their heart, looking forward to hear what the king has in place for them and fully prepared to deliver any assignment given to them. He praised and applauded them, thanking them for always turning up for the kingdom during terrible season and highlighting their commitment.

He went as far as promising them financial support, taking care of their daily needs and a lot of properties. The men were all thrilled by the king pledge and commitment. He was definitely a replica of his father. Perhaps , he was more composed than the previous king. The king was a selfish, greedy and an slow poison.

He strikes into action, noticing the level of merriness and excitement in their heart.

The occasion was graced with food and drinks, the only way to over power the valiant men.

He cheered them to a toast, ushering the voice of cooperation and unity. They all drank , feeling very pleasured dining with the king.

The poison added to the wine will take to action in less than ten minutes, giving the poisonous substance enough time to circulate all round their body system and once it gained entrance into the heart, it a boom! Death will be inevitable.

That was how the cruel king massacred the entire jungle lords in the land. He didn't feel satisfied with his action, he wanted more. He made a verdict all over the kingdom proclaiming that any newborn baby birthed with the mark of a jungle lord in their arm should be immediately executed. The rule was passed into law and has been so till this day.

Jungle lords are seen as abomination, differentiated and distinguished from normal human and any body with such mark would be instantly executed. A jungle lords has been birthed for sixteen years, away from the knowledge of any human. Cole was troubled in his mind.

Jay was no ordinary kid. He was chosen for a purpose. No human, either dead or alive must find out his true identity. The responsibility to protect the kid has fell on his shoulder.

He is now his guardian, channeling his part to destiny.
