Chapter 5 - HIS FIRST ADVENTURE.

His hand shivered! Sending a strange message to his heart. The summary of the challenge ahead of him, made him feel less of a man.

His frustration and fear seems to be embedded inside the bow and and spear placed on his hand.

Cole placed the hunting tools on his palm but it reflected right in the shadow of his mind. Was he ready for the task? His body was, but his mind says otherwise.

He contemplated within his heart if he could or will ever be like cole. Jay felt belittled. The sound of war was a total stranger to him.

His eyes were filled with unanswered questions. The desire for a revenge martyred off his brain. He was a young teen, compare to the rest hunter who were gallant and more older men.

He alone was new to the business.

Cole was an outstanding observer. He noticed a slight drift of energy in Jay appearance. Something wasn't adding up, he could tell! What wrong kiddo? He asked. Jay tried to hide the aroma of fear away from Cole but he just couldn't outsmart Cole great ability of smell.

Cole broke through Jay defense and maneuvered into the kid mind. Jay couldn't resist any longer. He ripped his sack full of thought for Cole to see.

I'm scared! really scared, he finally spoke out. I feel like I'm not brave enough for this. I'm not like you, he said bitterly. Cole drank some water from the jar and chuckled for a few seconds.

That the fact kid, he began. You can never be like me. But you can be greater, smarter and super outstanding than I will ever be. You Jay, I'm Cole. We can never be the same.

Think of a life where you are the the greatest, bravest and most special . A more better man than i am.

The Hunter paved in some confidence into Jay shattered mind. Cole words filtered out the hidden confidence and the undiluted courage in his mind. He felt like a mighty warrior, echoing the trumpet of war and feeling so prepared for a flamboyant defeat over the enemy.

He pulled up a smile at Cole, signaling the symbol of strength and tarnishing every image of weakness. From today onward, call me Father. Cole said. Jay looked into Cole eyes and responded, yes Father. He said in an undisputed tone of happiness. Cole draws him closer, giving him a hug.

Jay name was finally written and encrypted among the valiant men of the city.

The principle of life demand hard work and consistency with a prove of commitment. No man can breath into this world without the magnificent existence of a mother. A step at a time is required. For one to attain great height, he or she has to learn the rope.

Jay was appointed as a serving boy. Among his duties is helping the hunters clean their horses, taking good care of their hunting tools and running any sought of errand instructed of him.

What sought of commitment was that? He thought. He dreamt to be a senior rank hunting officer. Four years was sufficient for anyone to learn the rope but the crews of hunters including Cole has placed his dream on a falling cliff adjusting it in a descending order.

Bur he had no choice. He had to take revenge of his father and lost mother, even if it means kissing the hunters feet, he would gladly do. The hunters departed, led by Cole. They hunted in groups . Jay was treated like a runaway slave. It was very obvious. The hunters deliberately treated him like a piece of trash. They were going miles into the forest, all Hunter with their horses. Only Jay case was an exception. He trekked with his foot and wasn't entitled to a horse.

This was definitely a pure display of wickedness! He thought. But the hunters had a completely different view. He was a serving boy and have no entitlement to a horse. It not wickedness but rather part of the commitment and sacrifices. The infuriated part of it all was the fact that none of the hunters felt a sense of sympathy or compassion on him, not even Cole. Instead they laughed hard at him whenever he dashed his foot on a stone.

The long journey finally came to a halt. They all got down from their respective horses, ready to hunt for an unlucky prey that will fall victim. They were few meters away from the terrestrial part of the deep forest. Jay was ordered to keep watch on the horses and make sure that they are fully secured. Blow this when you notice anything strange, unusual or frightening. Cole gave him an alarming whistle.

Cole led the squad, signaling to the rest men to split themselves in groups of two's.

And like ghost, the men disappeared into the thick forest, leaving Jay alone in the spot. The sun shone brighter than it use to be. What were they going to come back with? Could it be an antelope or rather still a Bear and if possible a buffalo. The curiosity in him increased gradually, Rising above measure.

He wanted to see and experience what a hunting party would look like. It must be fun, he concluded, failing to consider the fact that it was a hunt for wild animals. The sun set fully , drifting it round shape at the center of the sky. Cole had strictly warned him not to let the horses out of his sight but he was just to curious to heed to this warnings.

He felt so useless watching over a common horse. After all he is now a certified member of the city hunting organization. Serving boy or not, he is a hunter and should definitely act like one.

In no time, Jay headed towards the forest, speaking to the horses to stay still, like they were human and could understand or rather still interpret what he meant. He maneuvered into the bush looking all around like a lost sheep . It was so quite, no movement or creeping of any living creature appears to be present. The tree stood still, refusing to bow to the wind. Jay kept walking, hoping to find Cole and the rest of the team.

Right in front of him was a baby fox, dozing heavily like it been under the influence of a sleeping drug. Jay felt mesmerized by the back sight of the animal, he moved forward to catch a front view Carried away by the beauty and how harmless the creature was only to be interrupted by the loud roar of a bigger animal. What could it be? He thought.
