"What do you think you're doing now?"
Kai looked up from the numerous books in front of him. Ray stood in front of him, arms folded and his eyes filled with subtle anger.
"Is that a real question?" Kai replied, turning back to his work.
Ray slammed his hand down hard on the table, sending some of the books flying into the air. "I'm talking to you," his voice was calm despite the anger rolling off him in thick waves. "What do you think you're doing?"
Kai let out a soft sigh and rose to his feet. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean. Anna."
Recognition flashed in Kai's eyes, but it was gone in seconds. "I'm not doing anything."
"Bullshit. You're pushing her away. And we both know that right now, that's not what you want to do."
A dangerous glint lit up Kai's eyes. He tilted his head to the side. "Don't stand there and claim to know me so well."
But Ray did.
