Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 – The Monster Hidden Inside the Library

This incident only deepened the mystery surrounding Logan Anderson.

From Dumbledore's perspective, the boy had become increasingly difficult to understand. Every time he thought he had finally grasped Logan's nature, the child would reveal another astonishing talent.

And that was precisely why Dumbledore continued observing him so carefully.

Fortunately, after quietly watching Logan for some time, Dumbledore noticed several critical differences between him and Tom Riddle.

Logan was clever, yes.

Extraordinarily clever.

But unlike Tom, he didn't isolate himself from others. He valued friendship. He protected the people around him instinctively. Even his arrogance carried none of Tom's cold cruelty.

Most importantly…

Logan still possessed warmth.

Dumbledore had even recently discovered that the boy seemed to be developing a rather dramatic relationship with a certain young witch.

That alone already placed him worlds apart from Tom Riddle.

The discovery eased some of Dumbledore's concerns.

Some.

But not all.

Because no matter how kind Logan appeared now, Dumbledore still couldn't afford to lower his guard. If someone with talent surpassing Voldemort ever walked down the wrong path…

The consequences would be catastrophic.

Thus, the old Headmaster sat silently in thought, melancholy settling heavily across his face.

.....

"What?! You actually became an official Quidditch player?!"

Ron nearly screamed loud enough to shake the corridor walls.

He grabbed Harry by both shoulders and shook him violently in complete disbelief.

Harry's brain rattled inside his skull.

"Ron—stop shaking me!"

Ron finally released him, though his face remained full of shock.

Harry rubbed his aching head helplessly.

"Professor McGonagall saw me chasing Malfoy during flying class," he explained honestly. "She apparently liked my flying ability, so she took me to meet Oliver Wood."

"The Quidditch captain?" Ron gasped.

Harry nodded.

"Professor McGonagall recommended me personally. Wood agreed to let me try training with the team first."

He scratched his cheek awkwardly.

"If I turn out to be terrible, he'll probably kick me out immediately."

"That's still incredible!" Hermione hurried over after overhearing the conversation. "A first-year student joining the Gryffindor Quidditch team?"

Then she suddenly paused.

"What about Logan?"

Hermione frowned slightly. "His flying was even more unbelievable than yours. Didn't Professor McGonagall recommend him too?"

Harry instantly looked guilty.

"Actually…" he admitted awkwardly, "I don't think Professor McGonagall saw most of Logan's performance. And when she dragged me away afterward, my mind completely blanked out."

He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

"I forgot to mention him."

Hermione looked horrified.

"You forgot?"

"I'll tell her later!" Harry said quickly.

"That probably won't even be necessary," Hermione replied confidently. "Madam Hooch pays close attention to Quidditch talent. There's no way she won't discuss Logan with Professor McGonagall."

Honestly, everyone present already knew the truth.

Logan's flying ability far surpassed Harry's.

Even Ron had to admit that if Professor McGonagall learned about Logan's performance, she would absolutely try recruiting him.

The thought suddenly made Ron feel strangely complicated.

His two closest friends joining Gryffindor's Quidditch team together should have made him excited.

Instead, for some reason, he felt oddly left behind.

After a brief silence, Ron suddenly spoke up.

"I don't think Logan would necessarily join anyway."

Harry blinked. "Why not?"

"Because he doesn't even like Quidditch," Ron explained. "Remember? I talked to him about it in the dormitory before."

Ron crossed his arms.

"He said he wasn't interested at all."

Harry slowly remembered that conversation too.

Now that he thought about it, Logan really had shown almost zero enthusiasm whenever Quidditch came up. Oddly enough, he had seemed far more excited talking about some bizarre Muggle entertainment called professional wrestling.

Something named WWE.

Harry still had absolutely no idea what that was supposed to be.

Hermione quietly listened nearby while pretending not to care.

Of course, she wasn't interested in Logan's hobbies for any special reason.

She was simply… curious.

That was completely normal between friends.

Very normal.

The three first-years continued walking through the corridors while discussing Harry's sudden Quidditch opportunity.

Despite everything, Harry still looked nervous.

"I'm honestly not sure I'm good enough," he admitted quietly.

Hermione suddenly smiled mysteriously.

"I know somewhere that might help with your confidence."

Harry and Ron immediately looked intrigued.

"What place?"

Hermione simply lifted her chin proudly. "You'll see within the next few days."

Her confident tone only made the two boys more curious.

Harry especially looked excited.

No matter how nervous he felt, he genuinely loved flying.

.....

Meanwhile, deep within Hogwarts Library, Logan sat completely surrounded by towering piles of books.

The soft rustling of pages filled the air endlessly.

Ding~

Sage Mode active.

The familiar enhancement flooded through his mind once more.

Through continuous study:

Levitation Charm proficiency increased.

Disarming Charm proficiency increased.

Congratulations.

Expelliarmus mastered.

Transfiguration proficiency increased.

Shield Charm proficiency increased.

System notifications continuously echoed through Logan's head one after another.

Yet none of them slowed him down even slightly.

His fingers moved rapidly across page after page while his eyes devoured magical theory at terrifying speed.

Logan had gradually developed a clear understanding of how the system functioned.

At lower levels, magical skills could gain experience through reading, study, and repeated practice. Theoretical understanding itself became fuel for growth.

But eventually, simple reading alone would no longer be enough.

At higher levels, true progress would require practical mastery and real combat experience.

Fortunately…

Logan wasn't normal.

The spellbook system directly absorbed and organised magical knowledge into perfect understanding inside his mind. Combined with Sage Mode, his learning speed became absurdly monstrous.

His memory strengthened dramatically.

His comprehension sharpened unnaturally.

He could read entire sections at a glance while simultaneously analysing magical structures, identifying spell relationships, and memorising theory all at once.

Even more terrifyingly, the system automatically converted that understanding into genuine magical proficiency.

Once a spell entered his skill list, using it became instinctive.

Strictly speaking, Logan didn't even need incantations anymore for certain beginner spells.

But personally?

He still thought shouting spells sounded cooler.

The dramatic factor mattered.

At this point, Logan genuinely felt like he had activated cheat codes inside reality itself.

Photographic memory.

Unbelievable comprehension.

A magical system that transformed knowledge directly into power.

The more he used it…

The more addictive it became.
