Elera's POV
I stood frozen in the dim hallway, my back pressed hard against the iron railing. My keys clattered to the floor, the sound echoing loudly in the quiet space. I watched the mysterious man easily throw the two large thieves aside like they were made of paper. The impact of their bodies hitting the wall was loud enough to make the overhead light flicker. The sheer force of his movements didn't make any sense. No normal person could move that fast, and no normal person possessed that kind of raw strength.
"Is this my life now?" I asked myself, my voice a tiny, trembling whisper in the dark.
Ever since I took the job at Axiom Biotech, my world had completely turned upside down. First, I found out that monsters were real, then my apartment was ransacked, and now I was trapped in a dark hallway with a creature that could probably snap my bones with a single hand. Every decision I had made in the last few weeks felt like a mistake I was still paying for.
