Xavier's POV
I walked down the narrow, sterile hallway of the station, and for the first time in a long long time, I was smiling.
It wasn't just a warm smile... it was a sharp, predatory curl of my lips that made a couple of officers quickly step aside and press themselves against the cinderblock wall as I passed.
They all stared but I didn't care. I felt completely intoxicated by the weight of the heavy manila folder tucked tightly under my arm and with every step my boots made against the cold linoleum, my heart hammered with a dark, restless eagerness.
"Fuck, I am finally going to put a face to the name Lucifer." I whispered while smiling even more.
That single name had haunted the entire New York police force like a curse and ever since that phantom had arrived in the city, he had turned our streets into a war zone and our lives into a living hell.
