Xavier's POV
The heavy steel door slammed shut behind me as I stepped out of Interrogation Room Three and for a second, I just stood there in the hallway.
Then I exhaled slowly. "Fuck…"
The word left my mouth before I could stop it because to be honest, I wasn't sure what exactly I was feeling.
Actually, that was a lie. I knew exactly what I was feeling, I was feeling almost everything... I was pissed, I was irritated and I was frustrated as hell.
Alfred... Lucifer... whatever the bastard's real name was had spent almost the entire interrogation sitting there with that annoying smug grin plastered across his face and I hated it because even in handcuffs, even behind bars and even with enough charges hanging over his head to bury him for multiple lifetimes.
The guy had remained arrogant, confident, cocky, unshaken and somehow that annoyed me more than if he had cried but beneath all that irritation? I was happy.
