I put the parchment down on the table after Linda left and stared at Arabella sleeping peacefully on the bed. As I watched her, I realized she was everything I had always wanted. Yet I also knew the road ahead of us would not be easy, especially for her.
A sigh escaped my lips.
I sat down behind my desk and began going through the parchments piled before me. Some required my seal and approval, while others were nothing but a waste of time.
"Bastards asking for more breeders to be sent into the palace," I muttered as I read through one of the requests. "When will they stop with this nonsense? I'm still looking for ways to get rid of the ones already here, and they want to bring another set."
I threw the parchment aside in irritation.
These people were becoming more annoying by the day. Like pests, nobody wanted them, yet they kept appearing no matter how many times they were turned away.
I stood up and began pacing around the room.
