"Time is ticking, Aurora. I don't have all day. Either you're in or you're out," Victor said again.
I looked around. His right-hand man was still standing with him. He had heard everything, yet he didn't look fazed. Apart from the condescending look he was giving me, it seemed like this was a normal thing to him.
I thought of turning down his offer because even the sight of him disgusted me, but I just couldn't bring myself to say it.
This was my last straw.
Arabella had almost taken over everything—the King's attention, his affection, and soon she might even take the crown. My heart became as cold as stone at the thought. The jealousy and hatred threatened to consume me whole.
I made up my mind right there and then.
"Don't waste time. I wouldn't want the King looking for me," I said with disgust.
"Don't bother. The King's already discarded you, and I don't want you either. I just want to satisfy myself with you. That is all," he said casually, as though it meant nothing.
