Arabella's eyes widened instantly.
Shock flashed across her face.
For a brief moment, she looked hopeful, almost excited. Then the realization struck her.
Disbelief.
Then annoyance.
She had never shifted in front of me.
There was no possible way I could have seen her wolf.
At least, that was what she believed.
I couldn't help chuckling at the expression on her face.
"You really do wear your feelings like a sleeve."
Her cheeks reddened slightly.
"Anyway, I've only ever seen her whenever we have sex."
Her eyes widened again.
"She is the reason you're still alive. You forgot everything that happened in the forest when we first mated."
The memory surfaced in my mind immediately.
The blood.
The pain.
