It was a dark night and Nevooa was watching Ginger make a new weapon.
The previous weapon he made was the Regenerating Sword. It would always stay sharp and recreate its self but it was weak due to it breaking on impact with almost everything.
"For the Regen. Sword I would have to add something else to it to make it more durable." Ginger had said.
A few minutes had gone by and Nevooa was watching Ginger build stuff in awkward silence.
"Umm. Ginger could you help me build something?" Nevooa asked nervously.
"Yeah I'll help you." Ginger replied.
They walked out into the night and went to Nevooa's room. It was cold in there. And the moonlight shot through the only window hitting most of the room.
Nevooa picked up Novak's journal and went to the page where it showed how the bug wings. To not get caught with the journal Nevooa was only going to show the pages that showed the bug wings.
"This is what I was planning to build, could you help me with that?" Nevooa said while showing the book.
"Hmmm." Ginger said.
It was quiet for a minute.
"I see, I see." Ginger said.
He began to grab the pieces to make it. Tree bark, beetle wings, and finally a needle.
"So what you're going to do is make your life energy like glue to make the tree bark stick together to make the elytra." Ginger said, "Then your going to connect it to the beetle wings. And finally attach both wings to the needle. But I'm still not sure how you're gonna make it shrink."
Nevooa did just that. He used his life energy to stick the pieces together. Then attached the elytra to the wings.
But while doing this Nevooa was thinking to himself. He didn't know how to make the wings smaller. But suddenly he thought about making a pledge.
"How 'bout a pledge!" Nevooa shouted.
"That's a good idea," Ginger replied but then said, "But with a pledge there has to be a drawback. No god is going to take something without an exchange."
"Hmm." Nevooa said while thinking to himself.
Nevooa attached the wings to the needle and then started writing.
"What are you writing?" Ginger asked.
"It's what the pledge is going to be." Nevooa responded, "It will work like this. When I my life force reaches a high point the wings will grow out of my back and become four times stronger than what it actually is. However, I can't use it unless my life force reaches that high point."
Ginger stared blankly at him.
"Do you actually think that's going to work? And don't you want to use it all the time." Ginger said.
"I'm a little confident that it'll work." Nevooa replied, "And I don't want to rely on it all the time."
"I guess." Ginger said.
Ginger grabbed the winds and stuck the needle into Nevooa's back.
A large amount of pain hit Nevooa it was in the center of his upper back and sent signals throughout his whole nervous system.
Nevooa started to burn the paper with his life force. And after a few minutes the paper was completely gone.
Both Nevooa and Ginger thought that the pledge didn't work but after a few minutes the wings shrunk until it and the needle weren't even visible.
"Heh, I guess it did work." Ginger said with is hand to his chin.
Nevooa started to touch his back to see if it was actually there. He touched all over but didn't feel a thing.
"I guess it did." Nevooa said.
"I'm gonna get going now." Ginger said.
He walked out the door waving his hand.
"See you!" Nevooa said, "And thanks for helping me!'
"No problem." Ginger replied silently due to his voice being echoed across the hallway.
