"Yugi, even though my Battle Phase is over, my turn isn't finished yet!"
Kaiba snapped a card onto his Duel Disk.
"I Normal Summon Maiden with Eyes of Blue in Attack Position!"
A silver-haired, blue-eyed girl appeared before him—fragile, almost unreal.
Maiden with Eyes of Blue (ATK 0 / DEF 0)
"End my turn." (Cards in hand: 3)
"What?! He put a zero-attack monster in Attack Position—and didn't even set a card!" Joey blurted.
"That has to mean it has some kind of effect," Mai narrowed her eyes.
"And… doesn't she kind of look like Kisaragi?" Téa said—then everyone reflexively turned to look at Kisaragi, making her instantly awkward.
Kaiba would never do something meaningless, Yami Yugi thought, gaze locked on the Maiden. "Eyes of Blue"… and she resembles Kisaragi. Is she tied to Blue-Eyes somehow?
"What's wrong, Yugi?" Kaiba laughed. "Did a monster with 0 ATK scare you? Hah!"
"My turn. Draw."
If that monster really connects to Blue-Eyes… I can't rush in blindly, Yami Yugi decided.
"I Set one monster face-down, Set one card, and end my turn." (Cards in hand: 3)
"Why is Yugi playing defense against a 0-attack monster?" Tristan asked, confused.
"Because Yugi likely suspects it's a Blue-Eyes trigger," Duke said. "He's trying to build enough resources before Kaiba's dragon hits the field."
"My turn. Draw."
His instincts are sharp, Kaiba thought. But even if he refuses to attack, I can still bring out Blue-Eyes whenever I want.
Kaiba revealed a card.
"I activate the effect of White Maiden!"
"White Maiden?" Yami Yugi frowned.
Kisaragi's lips curled into a small smile. "So he drew it now…"
Kaiba sent the card from his hand to the Graveyard.
"By sending White Maiden to the Graveyard, I can place True Light from my hand, Deck, or Graveyard face-up in my Spell & Trap Zone!"
A massive stone slab rose behind Kaiba—carved with the silhouette of Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
"I place True Light!"
"Impossible… he can fast-track True Light like that?!" Yami Yugi's eyes tightened.
"And now—True Light's effect. I Special Summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my hand!"
The carving flared. With a thunderous roar, the white dragon burst from the slab and landed, shaking the entire arena.

"He summoned Blue-Eyes with just one card?!" Joey hissed.
"Yeah… that White Maiden is basically tailor-made for Kaiba's deck," Mai said, grim.
"White Maiden…" Yami Yugi murmured, and his gaze flickered to Kisaragi for a fraction of a second—like he was suddenly dueling two people at once.
Kaiba continued, voice razor-calm.
"And White Maiden's Graveyard effect—when I Special Summon Blue-Eyes, I can Special Summon White Maiden from my Graveyard!"
A pale figure appeared beside Kaiba's dragon.
White Maiden (ATK 0 / DEF 0) — Defense Position
"Battle!" Kaiba barked. "Blue-Eyes—attack that face-down monster! Burst Stream of Destruction!"
A pillar of white light detonated across the field. Yami Yugi's set monster was revealed in the blast—
Big Shield Gardna—and it was destroyed.
Kaiba narrowed his eyes.
"I Set two cards. End my turn." (Cards in hand: 0)
"Kaiba—during your End Phase, I activate my Continuous Trap: Eternal Soul!"
A second stone slab rose—this one carved with the silhouette of Dark Magician.
"With Eternal Soul's effect, I can Special Summon Dark Magician from my hand or Graveyard!"
Yami Yugi placed a card from his Graveyard onto his Duel Disk.
"Come forth, my servant—Dark Magician!"
Violet light poured from the slab. The magician stepped out, staff raised, facing Blue-Eyes head-on.

Malik started to speak—then Ishizu stopped him with a hand.
"You're thinking the same thing I am," she said quietly. "This is the continuation of that battle from three thousand years ago. In ancient Egypt, monsters were sealed into stone slabs… and summoned forth by magic to duel. What we're seeing now is the same tradition."
Kaiba's jaw tightened.
So that's it, he thought. When Eternal Soul forced Dark Magician out of the Graveyard… it recreated that vision—the stone tablets… the inherited battle…
Yami Yugi's eyes burned.
"If this duel really is one piece of the memory I lost… then Kaiba, I have no choice. I must defeat you to reclaim it!"
Kaiba scoffed.
"Inherited memories? Destiny? That's fantasy. My path is mine to decide—not some dead past."
"My turn. Draw!"
"I activate Eternal Soul's effect—add either Thousand Knives or Dark Magic Attack from my Deck to my hand. I choose Dark Magic Attack!"
Kaiba's gaze sharpened instantly.
"Kaiba, even if True Light prevents your Blue-Eyes from being targeted… if True Light is destroyed, your field collapses."
Yami Yugi raised his card.
"I activate Dark Magic Attack! As long as I control Dark Magician, I destroy all Spell and Trap Cards you control!"
Dark Magician's staff gathered power—aimed directly at Kaiba's back row.
Kaiba didn't flinch.
"Yugi… you're naïve. Did you really think I wouldn't see that coming?"
"What—?!"
Kaiba flipped a Counter Trap.
"I activate Champion's Vigilance! Since I control a Level 7 or higher Normal Monster, when a Spell or Trap is activated—I negate the activation, and destroy it!"
The violet surge shattered in midair.
"Your Dark Magic Attack is negated!"
