"Activating White Maiden's effect!" Kaiba snapped back. "When this face-up card becomes the target of an attack or effect, I can Special Summon one 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' or one Level 1 LIGHT Effect Monster from my Graveyard!"
"I Special Summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"
White Maiden's body flared with light. A white dragon erupted behind her, roaring as it landed between her and Dark Magician.

"You still had a Blue-Eyes in your Graveyard?" Yami Yugi's eyes narrowed. "When did it get there?!"
"When I used Card Defense, I sent a Blue-Eyes to the Graveyard as the discard cost," Kaiba said flatly.
Yami Yugi's brow tightened.
"I Set one card. End my turn." (Cards in hand: 3)
"Kaiba has two Blue-Eyes on the field and Yugi only has Dark Magician… if he doesn't find an answer—" Joey started.
"But Kaiba has no hand right now," Mai cut in. "Yugi can survive this turn."
Kaiba scoffed, voice dripping contempt.
"Dark Magician… you're still clinging to that 'vision' we saw. Let me tell you what it really was."
"It was just our brains remembering images we saw on stone—nothing more. 'Three thousand years ago'… don't make me laugh, Yugi."
"You're just a prisoner—chained by the past you can't let go of."
"What did you say?" Yami Yugi's tone hardened.
"People who chase the past never find hope," Kaiba said coldly. "Turn your back on the future, and walk straight into defeat."
"My turn. Draw."
The moment Kaiba saw his draw, his lips curved.
"I activate the Equip Spell Wonder Wand! I equip it to Maiden with Eyes of Blue, increasing her ATK by 500!"

"That triggers Maiden!" Yami Yugi snapped.
"Exactly," Kaiba said, eyes sharp. "She's been targeted by an effect."
"I activate Maiden with Eyes of Blue's effect—Special Summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my hand, Deck, or Graveyard!"
A third dragon descended with a thunderous roar.

"And now, I activate White Maiden's Graveyard effect—Special Summon White Maiden in Defense Position!"

"Three Blue-Eyes?!" Mokuba practically bounced. "Brother, that's amazing!"
Kisaragi smiled and nodded. "Yeah."
Yami Yugi's eyes flashed. "Three… Blue-Eyes…"
Kaiba didn't stop there.
"Now I activate Wonder Wand's effect! I send the equipped monster and Wonder Wand to the Graveyard to draw two cards!"
Maiden and the wand vanished into particles. Kaiba drew cleanly, his posture tightening with confidence.
"He didn't just swarm the field—he refilled his hand too!" Yami Yugi's voice sharpened.
Kaiba raised his arm.
"Battle! My Blue-Eyes—triple Burst Stream of Destruction!"
Three dragons opened their jaws, white light blooming in their throats.
"First target—Dark Magician!"
"Activating the Continuous Trap Final Attack Orders—No, Forced End!" Yami Yugi cut in sharply. "This card can only be activated during the Battle Phase. I send one other card I control to the Graveyard, and the Battle Phase ends!"
"I send Bond Between the Hand and the Eye—no, The Bonds of the Card—Joker's Straight—" he corrected himself through clenched teeth, then snapped it clearly:
"I send The Bonds of the Card—'Joker's Wild'—to the Graveyard! End the Battle Phase!"
Kaiba's eyes widened.
"What?!"
Kisaragi exhaled, impressed despite herself. "That was clean."
Mokuba blinked. "Kisaragi, what does that mean? He can't do that forever."
Kisaragi answered calmly.
"Because Yugi still has Eternal Soul. He can repeatedly send Dark Magician away to cut off the Battle Phase, then bring him back with Eternal Soul. It's a loop that buys time until he draws the card he needs."
Kaiba's jaw tightened; he understood perfectly.
He set one card anyway.
"I Set one card. End my turn." (Cards in hand: 1)
The air on the tower felt heavier.
"They're locked," Duke muttered. "Both sides can't land a decisive blow."
"My turn. Draw!"
"I activate Polymerization! I fuse Dark Magician with Buster Blader from my hand!"
A vortex of light and shadow spiraled upward.
"Fusion Summon—Dark Paladin!" (ATK 2900 / DEF 2400)
Kisaragi's chest tightened for an instant—an old memory flashing: Kaiba losing to that sword.
"Dark Paladin's effect," Yami Yugi declared, eyes blazing, "gains 500 ATK for each Dragon-type monster on the field and in the Graveyards!"
Kaiba's field and Graveyard together held five Dragons.
"So it gains 2500!"

"5400?!" Kaiba's eyes sharpened, but his hand moved without hesitation. "I activate the Quick-Play Spell—De-Fusion! Dark Paladin returns to the Extra Deck!"
Yami Yugi's answer came instantly.
"I discard one card—Dark Paladin negates the activation of a Spell Card and destroys it!"
"What—?!" Kaiba snapped.
"And I'm not done," Yami Yugi said, slamming down another card. "I activate Diffusion Wave-Motion!"
Kisaragi's heart lurched. "No… Kaiba—"
"By paying 1000 Life Points, my Level 7 or higher Spellcaster can attack all your monsters once each!"
Yami Yugi's LP: 4000 → 3000
Kaiba's pupils contracted.
"That means… Dark Paladin can strike all three Blue-Eyes in one Battle Phase?!"
Yami Yugi's cape snapped in the wind as he pointed forward.
"Battle! Dark Paladin, cut through Kaiba's three Blue-Eyes—Dark Paladin Wave Slash!"
