After passing through the dark corridor, the three of them came back to their senses—only to find themselves standing in a devastated place. Everything was ruined. Streets lay cracked and empty, buildings gaped like hollow shells, and not a single person could be seen anywhere.
"Where… is this?" Kaiba muttered.
Yami Yugi's gaze snapped to a shattered pyramid in the distance. Beside it stood two immense stone statues—one of Obelisk the Tormentor, the other of Slifer the Sky Dragon.
"Is this… Egypt?" Yami Yugi said quietly.
"Seto!" A voice—clear, distant, almost ethereal—called out.
Kaiba looked up and saw Kisaragi flying toward him.
"Kisaragi? You got dragged in too?" Kaiba blurted.
"I don't know," she answered, landing lightly. "When those two Gods collided, whatever energy it released… it pulled me in as well."
Suddenly, something moved within the palace ruins. The air warped—like reality was being wrung out.
The world twisted.
In the next instant, all three were wrenched from where they stood and dropped into the center of a grand palace hall.
The first thing they heard was a wild, unrestrained laugh.
"HAHAHAHA…! The dark High Priest, empowered by evil, has suppressed every force between heaven and earth. Whether you hold supreme authority or command the power of the Millennium Gods—before the darkness, you are helpless. The doom of this land is only a matter of time."
A young priest stood across from a Pharaoh, a Millennium Rod in his hand, its tip pointed like an accusation.
"Why would you ever become their ally?!" the Pharaoh demanded. The Millennium Puzzle at his chest began to glow.
"That's the Millennium Puzzle…" Yami Yugi breathed.
"Don't misunderstand," the priest said, voice sharpened by contempt. "I never intended to submit to him. But I never intended to help you either. My Millennium Rod—and the power of my servants—will be your eternal enemy!"
He raised the Rod. It blazed with light.
"That's the Millennium Rod…" Kaiba said, stunned.
"You insist on settling this here?" the Pharaoh asked.
"You already feel it, don't you?" The young priest's smile turned feverish. "This is the destiny neither of us can avoid. Only you—only you must fall by my hand. That is my greatest wish!"
The moment those words left his mouth, light erupted around them both.
"You will witness the strength of my sacred servants—power that would move even the heavens! I'll shatter your followers until none remain!"
Behind each of them, a stone slab rose up like an ancient monument.
"Duel!" ×2
"Come forth—White Dragon!"
A Blue-Eyes White Dragon burst from the slab and descended before the priest.
"That's… Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Kaiba's eyes widened.
"Awaken from the slab, sleeping master of black magic—answer my call!"
A Dark Magician emerged, staff clenched, poised for battle.
"Dark Magician…" Yami Yugi's voice trembled. "Is this… part of the memory I lost?"
Kaiba stared, almost disbelieving.
"No… but that dragon—there's no mistake. It really is Blue-Eyes."
As Yami Yugi watched Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician facing off, the museum mural flashed through his mind like a blade of insight.
"I get it," he whispered. "That stone tablet… it was showing the duelists of three thousand years ago."
"The Pharaoh and his priest…?" Kaiba murmured.
"No." Kisaragi's voice cut through—firm, absolute.
Inside her, the spirit of the White Dragon manifested, and the Blue-Eyes on the field responded as if struck by resonance, its body shining in sympathy.
The young priest stared at Blue-Eyes, shaken.
"That light…!"
Blue-Eyes transformed into a beam and poured over him—washing him in brilliance—only for darkness to boil out of his body like smoke.
"Was he… being invaded by darkness?" Yami Yugi said, horrified. "Is that why he challenged the Pharaoh?!"
The priest screamed—a raw, agonized sound.
The darkness tore free and dissipated. His eyes cleared.
"Thank you… Kisara…" the young priest whispered—then collapsed, unconscious.
"Kisara…!" Kaiba repeated, the name hitting him like a shockwave.
Yami Yugi's heart tightened.
"Then Kisaragi… has a connection to them too—three thousand years ago…?"
Kaiba's thoughts spiraled, unwilling and undeniable.
"So my bond with her… with Blue-Eyes… didn't begin in this era at all?"
The vision shattered.
Their consciousness snapped back into the present.
The blinding light on the duel stage faded away. Kaiba and Yami Yugi were both down on one knee, breathing hard. Below them, Kisaragi leaned against the wall, also catching her breath.
The field was empty.
"Both Gods… disappeared," Malik said, shaken. "And that light—what was it? Why did my Millennium Rod react?"
"It was likely the clash of divine power," Ishizu said quietly, eyes fixed on the stage. "Something beyond logic occurred. The only ones who know what it truly was… are those two on the field—and Kisaragi Aoi."
Kaiba's jaw tightened.
"That scene… are you telling me I'm tied to the Millennium artifacts too? Don't make me laugh."
But the image wouldn't leave him—the Pharaoh, the priest, the Blue-Eyes slab… and above all, the beam of light that wrapped the priest.
And the way it felt…
Familiar.
Kaiba's gaze drifted to Kisaragi without meaning to.
Yami Yugi's eyes did the same.
"The Pharaoh who commanded the Dark Magician… the priest who wielded the White Dragon… that was us," Yami Yugi said, voice low. "And that light—I won't mistake it. It was the same light as the White Dragon spirit inside Kisaragi."
Kisaragi exhaled slowly. Mokuba hurried to support her.
"Kisaragi—are you okay?"
"I'm fine," she said. "I just… saw something unbelievable."
Ishizu stepped close. She didn't press for details—only spoke with quiet certainty.
"So you truly are connected to them… three thousand years ago."
Yami Yugi looked up at Kaiba, resolve hardening like steel.
"Kaiba… I understand now. This duel is not just today's match. It's a duel inherited across three thousand years—an unavoidable clash that transcends time."
Kaiba scoffed, but his eyes were darker than before.
"I thought you'd say something like that. Listen, Yugi—clinging to the past only makes you weaker. 'Three thousand years.' 'Destiny.' To me, those are nothing but rotting relics with no value."
He paused—because the only thing left in his mind was that beam of light around the ancient priest.
"The only thing worth chasing is—"
He didn't finish.
Joey scratched his head, still trying to process the empty field.
"So… since the Gods vanished, we're back to square one?"
"Yeah," Duke said, eyes sharp. "But with both of them holding enough resources, the real explosion is coming fast."
