"So that's Kaiba's God Card… Obelisk the Tormentor!" Joey's eyes were wide.
"This pressure… it's insane." Mai unconsciously rubbed her arms, as if trying to wipe the chill away.
"Even though I've seen Kaiba summon Obelisk before… this is the first time I'm facing it head-on," Yami Yugi thought. "Compared to Slifer the Sky Dragon, the oppression is—if anything—even worse."
Kaiba threw his head back and laughed, intoxicated by the moment.
"Yugi! At last—two Gods collide! I'm going to crush your Slifer, seize every God Card, and stand atop this tower as King of Games! Hahahaha!"
Then his eyes narrowed into a knife's edge.
"Your Slifer is sitting at 3000 ATK. My next strike will wipe your God off the field!"
Yami Yugi's smile was thin, mocking.
"Not so fast."
"I activate Slifer's effect—Thunderforce Attack!"
Slifer's jaws opened. A crackling sphere of lightning—dense, violent, divine—shot down and detonated across Obelisk's chest.
Obelisk the Tormentor (ATK 2000 / DEF 2000)
Yami Yugi's voice carried over the roaring wind.
"My God just pushed yours down a tier."
Kaiba's jaw tightened.
He calculated Thunderforce from the start…! he realized, irritation flaring.
He clicked his tongue and set his response for later.
"I set two cards. End turn." (Cards in hand: 2)
Kisaragi watched silently from the sidelines.
Two Gods on the field at once… In the original flow, Yugi summoned first. Kaiba really has leveled up. turn—draw!"
The instant Yami Yugi drew, he spoke like a judge delivering a sentence.
"I now have four cards in hand. That means Slifer's ATK rises to 4000!"

Kaiba didn't blink.
"Hmph. And my Obelisk returns to 4000 as well."
Obelisk the Tormentor (ATK 4000 / DEF 4000)
Yami Yugi's eyes flicked to Kaiba's face-down row.
One of those is almost certainly 'Gradual Reduction of Life.' If he flips it, my hand gets shredded… and Slifer loses its power.I can't let him reach that turn.
"I activate 'Pot of Greed'! I draw two cards!"
Cards slid into Yugi's hand like ammunition.
"My hand is now five cards—Slifer becomes 5000 ATK!"
Slifer the Sky Dragon (ATK 5000 / DEF 5000)
"Battle! Slifer attacks Obelisk—Thunder—"
"Naïve!" Kaiba snapped.
He slammed down a card.
"I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Order Silencer'!"
A towering totem-like structure erupted behind Kaiba, its carved beak opening with a shriek that felt like it pierced the air itself. The sound slammed into Slifer—an invisible gag, a command lock.
"Even Slifer can't attack if it can't receive your orders. 'Order Silencer' cancels your attack command—and forces the Battle Phase to end!"
Slifer's maw closed, reluctant, halted mid-strike.
"And because of 'Order Silencer,' I draw one card."
Yami Yugi's gaze tightened on Kaiba's remaining set card.
That face-down has to be 'Gradual Reduction of Life.' The longer it sits, the worse it gets. If my hand drops, Slifer drops… and Kaiba can swing the entire game in one turn.
He exhaled slowly—then made a choice.
"I set two cards. End turn." (Cards in hand: 3)
Slifer's power dipped with the hand count.
Slifer the Sky Dragon (ATK 3000 / DEF 3000)
Kaiba's eyes narrowed.
He'd rather lower Slifer than keep cards exposed… He's playing around something. Interesting.
Mai whispered, almost reverent.
"So this is what a God fight looks like…"
Joey swallowed. "One mistake… and it's over."
"My turn—draw!"
Kaiba's coat snapped in the wind as he lifted his hand.
"Yugi… take this!"
Yami Yugi's eyes stayed sharp—unblinking.
"I activate 'Graceful Charity'! I draw three cards, then discard two."
Kaiba's lips curled. "Just cycling your hand won't—"
"Not done." Yami Yugi flipped a Trap.
"I activate the Trap 'Charity of the Fallen Angel'! This turn, any cards discarded to the Graveyard by Spell effects return to the hand."

Two cards rose from the graveyard like they were being reeled back by fate itself—and snapped into Yami Yugi's palm.
Kaiba's eyes widened despite himself.
"A hand-extension combo…?"
Yami Yugi's voice was calm, almost pleasant.
"I now have six cards. Slifer rises to 6000 ATK!"
Slifer the Sky Dragon (ATK 6000 / DEF 6000)
Kaiba didn't flinch.
"Hmph. I expected your deck to be packed with hand-boosting engines."
Then his eyes sharpened, predatory.
"But it doesn't matter. My hand is already complete."
Yami Yugi's expression shifted—an instant of alarm.
"What?"
Kaiba's card snapped onto the field.
"I activate 'Pot of Greed'—draw two."
Then he Normal Summoned, almost theatrically.
"And I summon 'Rescue Rabbit' in Attack Position!"
Rescue Rabbit (ATK 300 / DEF 100)
Kisaragi's gaze flickered.
He got inspired from the Noah incident. That line.
Yami Yugi didn't hesitate.
"Kaiba, you forgot Slifer's ability! Go—Slifer! Thunderforce Attack!"
Lightning crashed down.
Kaiba answered instantly.
"I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Card Defense'! I discard one card—this turn, my monsters can't be destroyed by battle or card effects."

A translucent shield snapped into place in front of Rescue Rabbit. Slifer's lightning slammed into it—and dispersed.
Joey frowned. "Why is he protecting that weak little thing?"
Tristan leaned forward. "Does it have some kind of effect?"
Kaiba's grin spread, sharp and satisfied.
"Now you're asking the right question."
"I activate Rescue Rabbit's effect! I Tribute it to Special Summon two Level 4 or lower Normal Monsters with the same name from my Deck. They'll be destroyed during the End Phase—if you survive that long."
"Come forth—Sapphire Dragon!"
Two identical dragons slammed onto the field.
Sapphire Dragon (ATK 1900 / DEF 1600) ×2
Yami Yugi's eyes hardened.
"Then I'll erase them before they matter—Slifer, Thunderforce—"
Kaiba's voice cut through like steel.
"Yugi, did you forget what I just activated?"
The same shield that had protected Rescue Rabbit surged again, now wrapping around the entire side of Kaiba's field like a barrier of doctrine.
"This turn, my monsters won't be destroyed by effects."
Yami Yugi's mind raced.
Two Normal Dragons… protected for the turn… Kaiba wouldn't do this for nothing. He's setting up Obelisk.
Kaiba lifted his chin, almost savoring the moment.
"Yugi. You're wondering why I bothered summoning two monsters, aren't you?"
His eyes blazed.
"Then I'll show you Obelisk the Tormentor's true power."
