He fixed Kaiba with a hard stare.
"Kaiba… give me my God Card back."
"Tch." Kaiba clicked his tongue, but there was no way around it. He strode back over and shoved 'Slifer the Sky Dragon' into Yami Yugi's hand.
"Pfft—" Kisaragi couldn't hold it in and laughed.
"Kisaragi, what are you laughing at?" Mokuba asked.
"Nothing," she said, covering her mouth, eyes glittering. "It's just—this is the first time I've ever seen Seto actually get checked."
With Slifer back where it belonged, Yami Yugi opened his hand for Kaiba to see.
"Go ahead, Kaiba. Choose one."
Kaiba didn't hesitate. He snatched a card and returned to his spot.
"Thanks," Yami Yugi said calmly, tucking Slifer away as if it had always been there. "Because of you, the God Card is finally in my hand."
"Hmph." Kaiba's eyes sharpened.
I'll hand it back for now, he thought. But the one who ends up with all three God Cards will be me—Seto Kaiba. And a God Card sitting in your hand means nothing.My 'Obelisk the Tormentor' is still sealed by 'Lightforce Sword' for two more turns… but I've got 'XYZ-Dragon Cannon.' I'll blow your monsters away and you'll never keep three Tributes on the field.
Yami Yugi's smile was faint, but his mind was racing.

Queen's Knight was blown apart.
But Yami Yugi didn't flinch.
"I activate the Continuous Trap 'Bond of the Court'! I Special Summon 'Queen's Knight' from my Graveyard in Defense Position!"
"Hmph." Kaiba's voice turned colder.
"Then I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Union Attack'! It can only be used during the Battle Phase after a Union-equipped monster has battled. I choose a monster that battled while equipped, detach its Union monster, and that monster can attack one more time this turn!"
He snapped his fingers toward his ace.
"I detach 'Y-Dragon Head' from 'X-Head Cannon'—Special Summon 'Y-Dragon Head' to my field!"
The separated Union monster hit the ground with a metallic clang.
"Keep going! 'X-Head Cannon' attacks 'Jack's Knight'! And 'Y-Dragon Head' attacks 'King's Knight'!"
Kaiba's gaze burned through Yugi.
"Yugi—next turn, even if you revive one monster with 'Bond of the Court,' you still won't have three Tributes. You can't summon your God."
He set a card and ended.
"End turn." (Cards in hand: 4)
He leveled a finger like a challenge.
"Your turn, Yugi."
"My turn—draw!"
The moment Yami Yugi saw the card, his pupils tightened.
Kisaragi's eyes narrowed. "He drew something big…"
Kaiba's God is unsealed in one more turn, Yami Yugi calculated. Then I have to summon first—before he does.
"I set one card."
"Then I use 'Bond of the Court'—Special Summon 'Queen's Knight' from my Graveyard in Defense Position!"
"End turn." (Cards in hand: 3)
Kaiba's expression didn't change, but his voice dropped.
"Yugi… you really think I can't summon a God on this turn?"
"What?" Yami Yugi snapped back. "Your 'Obelisk' is sealed! It won't return until next turn!"
Kaiba's grin was all teeth.
"Do you really think Seto Kaiba is bound by common sense?"
He flipped his face-down card.
"I activate the Trap Card 'Clock of Destiny'! It advances the turn-count of one card by one turn. I choose—'Lightforce Sword'!"
Yami Yugi's eyes widened.
"So that set card wasn't 'Gradual Reduction of Life'…!"
The shining sword sealing Kaiba's hand card hissed, smoked, and then vanished—its countdown forcibly accelerated.
Kaiba drew with absolute certainty.
"My turn—draw."
Then, without missing a beat—
"I use 'Z-Metal Tank'—detach it from 'X-Head Cannon,' and Special Summon it to my field!"

"Let him explain," she said quietly. "But I'll tell you this—it's a card that can fast-track a God summon."
Yami Yugi held the card up like a verdict.
"Kaiba—'Godspeed Summon' can be activated during either player's Main Phase or Battle Phase. It lets me summon a Level 10 monster!"
Kaiba's face tightened.
"A Level 10—so you mean—!"
"Exactly." Yami Yugi's voice rang out. "I Tribute 'Queen's Knight,' 'Jack's Knight,' and 'King's Knight'!"
Thunder rolled across the sky. Black clouds churned as if the arena itself was being swallowed.
"Come forth, God Card—'Slifer the Sky Dragon'!"
A massive red dragon emerged from the storm, coiling above them like the wrath of a forgotten age.
"Yes!" Joey shouted, fists clenched. "Yugi summoned it first!"
"Yugi, you've got this!" Téa cried.
Kaiba didn't blink.
"Hmph. You think that changes anything?"
He pointed upward.
"Slifer's ATK is determined by your hand size. Yugi—you have three cards. That means Slifer is 3000 ATK."

Kaiba's hand slid to the card he'd been waiting to feel again.
"And it's still my turn." His voice was ice. "My God Card is back in my hand."
He raised it high.
"I Tribute 'X-Head Cannon,' 'Y-Dragon Head,' and 'Z-Metal Tank!'"
His words hit like a hammer.
"Obelisk the Tormentor—descend! Become my absolute God and stand upon my field!"
The storm thickened. Blue particles rose like sparks from the earth, gathering into a towering figure behind Kaiba—vast, brutal, undeniable.
