Chapter 59
Tori's POV
My heart was still racing after seeing Laura earlier.
Out of all the things I had expected today, seeing her was nowhere on the list.
The encounter had left me unsettled in ways I couldn't explain. Questions kept running through my mind as I walked along the hallway toward my room.
Kael knew she had tried to kill me, yet he had never brought it up directly. He had figured everything out on his own and still chose to stay silent until today.
Why?
What was he thinking? why did he wait so long?
The questions chased each other around my head without giving me a single answer.
"Hey, Tori."
The familiar voice made my entire body stiffen.
For a brief second, it felt as though I had been dragged back to that day.
The sinking feeling beneath my feet.
The last voice I remembered hearing before realizing I was being swallowed by the ground.
Slowly, I turned around.
Laura stood a few feet away from me with both hands clasped nervously in front of her.
