"Leave. I will not let you in," Jonathan replied, his tone cold and sharp.
"We need to talk, Jo. I miss you," the girl said, her voice dripping with artificial sweetness. She moved quickly.
Without a second thought, Jonathan jerked his arm away, forcefully breaking free from her grasp. He spun around and strode away, abandoning any intention of entering his own home.
"Jo!" the girl screamed, her voice thick with frustration.
Jonathan drove off. He let out a long, ragged breath before reaching for his phone to call Heri.
"Where are you?" Jonathan asked abruptly, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.
There was a muffled background of noise and thumping music on the other end. "I'm at a karaoke bar! Just come here. I'll share my location now!" Heri shouted, his voice raised to compete with the faint sounds of singing in the background.
Inside the karaoke room, Zee was singing her heart out.
