After Conrad listened to the words of Reginald, he understood that his doubts were not for nothing at all.
"It seems like Adex is trying something," he thought.
When put in perspective, it is only a logical conclusion.
Conrad asked as he looked at Reginald.
"How many official members did you guys kill?"
Reginald answered as he thought for a moment.
"Three of them."
Conrad nodded.
"I killed two of them."
"This means that only two enforcers and one more official member and a leader are left."
Reginald nodded.
Conrad then added.
"I am still not able to penetrate inside of the manor with my ability."
"This means that whoever put that barrier is still alive."
Reginald nodded and touched his chin for a moment and walked back and forth.
"I do not think that the leader himself has such an ability."
Conrad nodded.
"I agree with you."
"The leader must have a different kind of power compared to just a barrier that blocks information."
Reginald then added.
"Can it be one of the enforcers?"
Conrad thought and then shook his head.
"Nah."
"I think it must be the official member that did not join the battle."
"Enforcers are enforcers for a reason. They most likely have strong physical abilities and high-level combat capabilities rivaling yours at least."
"I do not think high-level combat abilities are in line with a barrier-type Nen ability."
Reginald took a deep breath, and then Adarte arrived with Anisa.
Five seconds later, Gotoh, Canary, Linsey, Avio, and Lina arrived.
Lina directly went to the still-sleeping Anisa and then started looking at her and trying to understand if she can heal her.
Conrad looked at them and nodded.
"It is great that none of us died," he started.
"There is one big reason why I have regrouped the team."
Everybody listened; Reginald stood side by side with Conrad.
"I think the leader of this cult has a plan, and the plan involves the official members being killed."
"Think about it for a moment." Conrad said as he turned to look at the big manor.
"A barrier that blocks information, no enforcers or leader even after we have killed many quasi-members and official members of theirs."
"It all points that there is a big game that Adex is playing."
"We are just feeding him at this point."
Aderta and others listened, and then all of them took deep breaths.
While Gotoh spoke.
"May I ask something?"
Conrad nodded and turned to look at Gotoh.
"I suppose our mission is ended here." Gotoh said.
Conrad thought for a moment and then nodded.
"I suppose so."
Gotoh then spoke.
"I think there is no need for us to be here anymore. Now that the official members are not that many and quasi-members almost all cleared out, leaving five or ten."
"I shall say that our contract is concluded and leave the area with our people."
Conrad looked at Gotoh for a moment and then nodded.
"Okay."
"Leave," he said, clearly not that fond of Gotoh at all.
Gotoh did not mind the behavior of Conrad.
There are two reasons for him to not care: the first is a mission is a mission, and there is no need to be emotional, and the second is Conrad is not the kind of guy that he wants to make an enemy of at all.
It is true that Gotoh was not scared due to the existence of the Zoldyck family, but an enemy like Conrad is never good news.
Gotoh did not say anything and nodded at the butlers, and then four of them jumped and vanished deep in the mountain forest, leaving the area.
Conrad looked at Reginald, Adarte, Lina, and sleeping Anisa.
"What is her state?" he asked.
Lina looked at Conrad and then said it.
"She must be hit by some sort of nen ability."
"I can tell that she is not in a life-threatening situation, but it will take at least one day for her nen to heal her up."
Conrad nodded.
"So, Anisa is out," he thought.
"That leaves Adarte, which is in no great shape to fight."
"Lina, who is not a combatant in the first place."
"Reginald is the only one that is capable at this point."
Conrad made a plan within his mind and then looked at the manor for a moment.
"I wonder if Adex is still waiting for something to happen or if his ability is already active and he just waits for the final trigger."
Conrad knew and believed 100% at this point that there was something fishy going on, but he could not name it.
As he thought about it, something unexpected manifested.
"Hehehe," a small, weird laugh resonated.
"So, you are not going to attack anymore," said a man's voice. Conrad turned to look to his right and saw the man.
"Adex," Conrad murmured.
Adex nodded. A moment later, Light and Malia showed up.
"Now."
"You and your team entered our area, our home, and killed our members..."
Conrad and Reginald stayed alert but silent, while Adarte made sure Anisa was safe and Lina was prepared just two steps behind Conrad and Reginald.
"Despite this, you have noticed that there is a barrier inside of our manor."
Conrad took a deep breath and said nothing.
Adex then added.
"Let me tell you something."
"Nen, Collector Of The Light Upon Us."
He said the words, and then something weird happened in the manor; for a second, it flashed with a big blue light, and then the light turned white.
"When you and your people killed our people, their aura, their soul, did not leave this world but collected within our basement."
"A machine of some sort, a specialist ability."
"Nen, Collector Of The Light, Upon Us..."
Adex then smiled.
"We collected our people and their souls."
"You know why?"
Conrad smiled.
"Who knows."
"To kill you and your friends."
As Adex said these words, he opened his palm, and a small, pretty insignificant white sword formed, and then Adex laughed.
"Now that you fulfilled conditions, you are not going to be able to dodge or block this attack, matters of physical capability..."
"This is my own personal ability..."
"It is not a ritual or collective ability; you did not lose because of us, you lost to my intelligence..." Adex said.
As his words ended, the small white sword flashed and entered his heart; Conrad dropped on the ground.
"No!" said Reginald as he saw what happened.
On the other hand, while on the ground lying, Conrad smirked.
"Hand Of The Future..."
"If not for that, I would be killed here."
"I thought I died..."
"At least he did point out that this was no ritual ability, but it sure looks like that."
Conrad kept his mouth shut for a moment to wait for his chance.
