Conrad waited for his chance to arrive.
He did not move and did not make any aura control movements. One may think that in his position the aura he had would vanish like it never existed, but that was not the case.
Even after a new user is killed, the aura on their body remains for about thirty seconds to one minute.
A sudden, vanishing aura would do no good.
While he planned, Reginald looked at Conrad's body on the ground, and then his eyes landed on Lina, Adarte, and Anisa.
Against a leader of the enemy and two of his enforcers, he was not sure if he could fight and live to tell a tale.
Lina may support him; Adarte can do whatever he can, and Anisa is just sleeping. She would need protection if she did not want to die.
"Tight..." he thought, and then Adex smiled as he looked at Reginald.
"You seem to be a powerful Nen user..."
"You are not a fool; you can see that with your current lineup, there is no chance for you to take us on."
"Let me tell you something, an idea, a plan that I may give both of you."
Adex spoke as his eyes landed on Lina for a moment. For a cult leader like him, understanding the relationship between two people is child's play.
One look and he can tell that Reginald and Lina are in some sort of a situationship that is closer to each other.
Reginald listened and said nothing. At this point, he was trying to buy some time to decide on the next course of action.
While Conrad kept his silence as he slowly made his aura wash away each second, he was trying to imitate that the aura was leaving his body as if he were dead.
Adarte, on the other hand, kept on looking at the sleeping Anisa and Reginald.
Truth to be told, he was not sure of what Reginald would do, as he did not know about him that much.
Adex then continued.
"Now that there are many openings in my organization, you and your girlfriend can join if you want to."
Reginald smiled.
"That is a great offer," he said.
"But how would you know about loyalty?"
Adex laughed and then looked at his enforcers.
"Who said anything about loyalty?"
Reginald and Lina, as well as Adarte, were taken aback by these words.
"When I invite you officially, we make a ritual of some sort."
"The ritual is a nen ability that is a manipulator-type..." he continued.
"When you perform all the conditions and join my organization, you cannot hide any of your thoughts from me."
Adex smiled and looked at Malia.
"It is her ability..."
Malia smiled and then understood it was her time to speak now.
"The ability of mine is called Open Thoughts—The Ritual Of Light."
"The ability needs to be powered by Adex and his ability, Nen Collector."
"When five different conditions that need to be fulfilled are completed, the new individual becomes one of the Official Members."
"The official members can not hide their intention from me when I use Open Thoughts."
"It does not matter if it is a hidden thought or habit."
"You need to abide by the rules that I will set after that."
"I can set up to two rules at the start and end of the first month; it rises up to four and then five at the end of the year."
Adex nodded.
"Thank you for the explanation."
He then turned to look at Reginald and Lina as he spoke.
"If you accept my invitation and fulfill the conditions, you become fully fledged official members of the Light Upon Us, and I would have no reason to kill you both, as I will know for certain that you work for me."
Reginald spat on the ground and said it.
"That is just slavery."
Adex smirked.
"It may be."
"But you are the one who said it."
"How I would be able to trust you otherwise."
"You can pretend you accept coming to my side and kill me."
"We would not want that, do we?"
Adex said his words and waited.
Reginald shared a look with Lina and then nodded.
Lina smiled at him. The smile was not too big or grandiose; it was just an ordinary smile.
But this ordinary smile told many things to Reginald that needed to be told.
Lina was not a person that would accept slavery from a cult. She would not do that just because she wants to keep on living.
It is better to die instead of live like that.
Reginald was in the same mindset. It was just that the life of Lina was important to him.
Because of Lina, he could not help but consider it for a second. Even if he did not want to.
While, at the same time, Adex said.
"Tell Blora to lift her ability on the manor and come here." Light just beside him listened to Adex and used his phone to text.
It seemed like the abilities of the organization were in a mess too due to much energy and nen spent on killing Conrad and now that they were not in the manor anymore.
Adarte then said.
"For a moment, I thought I would die with Anisa," he smirked.
Reginald closed his eyes for a moment, and then his arms turned into blades as he activated his nen ability.
"It seems like you are not going to us."
Adex nodded.
"Too bad."
"I did really like both of you."
He then looked at Malia and Light and nodded.
"Kill that man for me."
Reginald prepared, and Lina started flicking her fingers, and four Rose Servants showed themselves and started running towards the Light and Malia.
She wanted to target the leader, but she believed the distance was too much for her rose servants to work in a surprise attack.
