Before Annabelle Linton could even speak, Leona Grant barraged her with words. "I couldn't get through when I called, and you didn't open the door when I knocked. I've been standing here knocking for nearly fifteen minutes! I was starting to think something had happened to you."
Once Annabelle Linton got a clear look at the person in front of her, her expression soured. She ignored his tirade and asked impatiently, "What are you doing here?"
"You answer me first. What were you doing in there? Why was it so quiet for so long?"
Without waiting for an invitation, Leona Grant brazenly let himself in and began checking all around the apartment.

Annabelle Linton frowned at him, her eyes flicking to the large white clock on the wall. "It's six-thirty in the morning," she said irritably. "What do you think I'd be doing besides sleeping? Who said you could come in?"
