Hearing this, Annabelle Linton suddenly turned around.
When Leona Grant saw her turn, he froze for a moment. Then, a spark of hope ignited in his heart, and he raised the corners of his mouth in anticipation. "Please, eat a little. Madam King made you..."
"You're so annoying."
Annabelle Linton stared at him, cutting him off before he could finish.
An unexpected sting pierced Leona Grant's heart.
Her eyes were devoid of any emotion, chillingly clear as she indifferently spoke those three words, and nothing more.
But it was just three words, without any particular emphasis, yet they pierced his heart like a needle.
He knew he was annoying.
He also knew she would find him annoying.
Leona Grant paused, then deliberately ignored her words. Putting on a thick-skinned, fawning smile, he said, "No matter what, you still have to eat. Come on, I won't bother you."
Looking at his eager-to-please, smiling face made Annabelle Linton feel incredibly irritated.
It was true.
