⚙️ IRON VEIL — Chapter Thirteen
Title: Containment Failure
---
PART I — The Realization
The fires in Sector 18 were still being extinguished when the alert came in.
Not from the battlefield.
From below.
Deep within Iron Veil's secure network, warning signals flared red across every major terminal.
> System Alert:
PRISON VAULT AXIOM — SEAL BREACH DETECTED.
Helena Voss stopped mid-stride in the command room.
> Voss: "Say that again."
> Operator: "Containment locks failing in Sublevel Nine. Blue Rose injectors offline. Iron gate integrity at thirty percent and dropping."
The room went silent.
Captain Lin turned sharply.
> Lin: "Sublevel Nine holds—"
> Voss: "I know what it holds."
Lady Eve's voice came through the comms, still breathing hard from battle.
> Lady Eve: "Sector 18 was bait."
Samurai's reply was immediate.
> Samurai: "And we swallowed it."

PART II — Inside the Vault
Prison Vault Axiom was built like a fortress buried under a mountain.
Layer upon layer of reinforced iron walls.
Blue Rose dispersal systems in every corridor.
Automated rail turrets ready to fire at anything not coded as human.
It had never been breached.
Until now.
Security teams rushed through narrow hallways, boots pounding against cold metal floors.
> Guard Commander: "Seal the upper levels! Nobody goes down without Director authorization!"
Then the lights flickered.
Once.
Twice.
Darkness.
A low sound echoed upward from Sublevel Nine.
Not a roar.
Not a scream.
A calm, steady breathing.
The emergency lights came back on.
And the first security squad never reported in.

PART III — The Presence
Deep in Sublevel Nine, the cell door hung open.
Iron bars bent outward like softened wax.
The air felt heavy, almost thick, as if gravity itself had increased.
Zenn stood a few meters away, untouched.
In front of him, something stepped forward from the shadows.
Its silhouette was tall.
Controlled.
Still.
Not a rampaging beast.
Not a mindless monster.
It moved with deliberate ease.
> Unknown Demon: "You broke the lock."
Its voice was low. Steady. Intelligent.
Zenn lowered his head slightly.
> Zenn: "I offer you freedom."
A pause.
Then a quiet chuckle.
> Unknown Demon: "Freedom? Or chaos?"
Zenn's third eye pulsed faintly.
> Zenn: "Both."
The demon stepped fully into the dim light.
The air pressure shifted again. Cracks formed in the walls without a single strike being thrown.
Zenn felt it.
Power.
Not explosive like Ragnar Vermis.
Not wild like the synthetic monster.
This was different.
Refined.
Ancient.
The unknown demon glanced at the ruined seals.
> Unknown Demon: "Iron Veil built this prison well."
It turned its gaze to Zenn.
> "But they built it for yesterday's monsters."
---
PART IV — First Contact
Above, Iron Veil rapid-response teams finally reached Sublevel Eight.
Helena Voss herself arrived minutes later, armored and armed.
> Voss: "Report."
> Guard Commander: "We lost contact with three squads. Motion sensors in Sublevel Nine show two lifeforms."
Voss didn't hesitate.
> Voss: "Open the path."
As blast doors lifted, a tremor ran through the corridor.
Metal warped.
The walls bent inward as if pressed by invisible hands.
Then came footsteps.
Slow. Even.
The guards raised their rifles.
> Guard Commander: "Hold your fire until—"
He never finished.
A pressure wave rolled through the hallway.
Rifles crumpled.
Iron bent.
Men and women were thrown back without a visible strike.
Helena Voss braced herself, boots grinding into the floor.
She saw it clearly now.
The unknown demon walked calmly through the corridor.
Not attacking wildly.
Not rushing.
Just walking.
Zenn followed behind like a shadow.
> Voss: "All units—engage!"
Blue Rose gas flooded the hallway instantly.
The demon stopped.
Looked around.
Inhaled.
And smiled faintly.
> Unknown Demon: "Still using flowers."
The gas swirled—but it didn't weaken the demon the way it should have.
Instead, it dispersed as if pushed away by unseen force.
Zenn watched carefully.
Learning.
---
PART V — A Controlled Exit
Samurai arrived from the upper levels, exosuit fully armed.
He fired a high-density iron round straight at the demon's chest.
The bullet stopped midair.
Hovered.
Then dropped harmlessly to the floor.
Every Slayer in the corridor froze.
The unknown demon tilted its head.
> Unknown Demon: "Impressive tools."
Its eyes shifted to Helena Voss.
> "But tools require control."
The lights burst overhead.
Sparks rained down.
Walls cracked further.
Then—
Suddenly—
The pressure vanished.
In the blink of an eye, both Zenn and the demon were gone.
Only the broken corridor remained.
And the silence.
---
PART VI — Aftermath
Medical teams rushed in.
Security reports flooded the command center.
Damage assessments climbed by the second.
Helena Voss stood motionless in the ruined hallway.
> Lin (quietly): "Director…"
Voss spoke slowly.
> Voss: "Seal all vault protocols. Double Blue Rose production. Increase Iron reserves."
She looked at the twisted walls.
> "And prepare for something worse than a Calamity."
---
FINAL SCENE — In the Shadows
Far from the prison, beneath an abandoned industrial complex, Zenn stood beside the newly freed demon.
> Zenn: "You saw their strength."
> Unknown Demon: "I saw their fear."
Zenn's third eye glowed.
> Zenn: "Will you stand with me?"
A long silence followed.
Then—
> Unknown Demon: "For now."
The air around them trembled faintly.
And somewhere in the distance, Ragnar Vermis stirred again.
