Kayne stormed into his chambers, slamming the door shut behind him. The sound echoed off the walls. He pulled off his coat and angrily tossed it onto the couch.
Watching her husband barge into the room, Katherine rose to her feet, her brows furrowed in confusion.
"What's going on? What happened in the courtroom?" she asked.
Kayne hissed loudly and paced the length of the bedroom before finally speaking.
"That fucking Viscount. He came to prove that his whore wasn't the one who murdered Miss Raine," he said through gritted teeth.
Katherine wrapped her arms around herself.
"But that's a good thing, isn't it?"
Kayne turned to face her.
He sighed before managing a faint smile.
"You're too innocent, my dear."
He walked over and gently placed his hands on her shoulders.
"There's nothing that boy does that's ever a good thing. He is a menace, and it's only a matter of time before he becomes a serious problem."
Her frown deepened.
