[POV - Nana][Sainan - Yuuki House]
Ugh.
I looked out the ship's window as we descended toward this backward planet called Earth. Honestly, I didn't understand what Lala-oneesama saw in this place. I mean, yes, it had cute animals — especially these "dogs" she always mentioned — but still.
It was just another primitive planet.
Nervous.
But I was also... nervous? Which was strange. Me, Nana Astar Deviluke, third princess of the galactic empire, nervous to meet a boy?
Ridiculous.
Ridiculous.
— Nana-chan — Momo poked me — you're pouting again.
— I'm not! — I protested automatically.
— You are — she smiled in that irritating way she always used when she knew something I didn't. — You're nervous to meet Rito-san.
Blush.
— I-I'm not nervous! — I stammered. — I just... I just want to make sure he's good enough for Lala-oneesama!
Lie.
It was a lie. Well, not completely. I really did worry about Lala. But I was also curious about the boy who had made daddy — DADDY — bow.
Flashback.
Three months ago...
— Daddy met someone stronger than him? — I had asked incredulously.
— Not just stronger — mommy had replied gently — but someone who treated him with... polite indifference. As if Gid's power were... irrelevant.
— Impossible!
— That's what I thought too — mommy smiled. — But when I saw Gid's eyes when he talked about this boy... there was real respect there.
End flashback.
Landing.
Whoooosh.
The ship landed — well, "hovered menacingly" would be more accurate — over a modest house in a suburban neighborhood.
— This is his house? — I asked, looking out the window. — It's so... small.
— Not everyone lives in palaces, Nana — Momo said in that "I'm more mature than you" tone.
Annoying.
Irritating.
Beam down.
When we materialized in front of the house, the first thing I noticed was...
Nothing special.
Nothing special. It was just a normal Japanese house, with common terrestrial architecture, in a neighborhood that looked completely ordinary.
How could someone who lived HERE be stronger than daddy?
Then I saw him.
Then I saw him.
Yuuki Rito came out of the house, and my first impression was... disappointment?
He was... normal. Messy brown hair, kind eyes, average height for terrestrial standards. Wearing casual terrestrial clothes. Nothing about him screamed "cosmic power" or "galactic threat."
But.
But then daddy bowed.
Daddy. The Conquering King. The man who never bowed to anyone.
Bowed.
Shock.
— Yuuki Rito — daddy said with RESPECT — it's an honor to be in your presence again.
Wait what?
Wait, what?
Observation.
I observed more carefully. Rito-san returned the bow with natural grace, without arrogance, without superiority. As if dealing with galactic royalty was... normal... for him.
Interesting.
Mommy.
Then mommy approached and touched his hand, and I SAW. I saw the exact moment her eyes widened, that flash of recognition mommy always had when she perceived something important.
She knew. She knew there was something more to him.
Introductions.
— SO! — Lala broke my reverie. — These are my sisters! Momo and Nana!
Step forward.
Momo stepped forward with that irritating grace of hers, making a perfect bow.
— Rito-san — she said — I've heard a lot about you. Lala doesn't do you justice in her descriptions.
Show off.
Show off.
My turn.
My turn. I had to establish that I wasn't going to be easily impressed.
— Hmph — I crossed my arms, assuming my best disinterested princess pose. — So you're the guy who won over my sister? Doesn't seem like much.
There.
There. I established dominance. I showed I wasn't going to fawn over him just because daddy...
— Nana! — Lala scolded me.
Oops.
Maybe I was too rude?
— What? I'm just being honest! — I defended myself.
His reaction.
But Rito-san just... smiled? Not an arrogant or offended smile. A genuinely amused smile.
— You must be the animal lover Lala always mentions — he said gently. — She says you have a special gift with creatures.
Blush.
I felt my cheeks flush. He... paid attention when Lala talked about us?
— W-well — I stammered — animals are better than people most of the time.
— I agree — he replied, and there was sincerity in his voice. — They're honest in a way humans rarely are.
Connection?
Wait. Were we... agreeing? Having a bonding moment about animals?
No no no.
No, no, no. I wasn't going to let him win me over with talk about critters!
[Living Room - Moments later]
Cramped.
The room was crowded and uncomfortable. Daddy sitting rigidly as if the chair might explode. Mommy relaxed and elegant as always. Lala and Momo... being Lala and Momo.
And me, trying not to seem too interested in everything.
But.
But I was watching. Watching how Rito-san treated his younger sister with obvious care. Watching how he prepared tea even though he was "the important host." Watching how he...
Caring.
Cared. About everyone. Naturally. Without needing royal orders or protocols.
Annoying.
How annoying it was that this was... attractive.
NO! I didn't think that!
Momo's observation.
— So, Rito-san — Momo said in that tone that meant she was scheming something — Lala says you're... special.
Here we go.
Here we go. Momo in investigation mode.
I watched the exchange, seeing Rito-san diplomatically navigate Momo's question without revealing too much but also without lying completely.
Skilled.
Skilled. Very skilled for someone "ordinary."
Subject change.
When he changed the subject by asking about us, I almost jumped from my chair when he mentioned terrestrial animals.
— And you, girls? First time on Earth?
— Yes! — I replied before I could stop myself. — I want to meet all the Earth animals! Especially dogs!
Excitement.
I couldn't hide the excitement. Dogs! Lala had shown SO MANY photos! They were so cute and loyal and...
— I can take you to the park later — Rito-san offered with that gentle smile. — There are lots of dogs there.
Heart skip.
My heart skipped a beat.
Wait. WHAT?
Tsundere mode activate.
— I-it's not like I want to go with YOU specifically — I stammered, feeling my cheeks burn. — I just want to see the dogs!
Giggles.
Lala and Momo laughed. LAUGHED. As if they'd seen something funny.
Traitors.
Traitors.
Explosion.
BOOM!
The explosion from upstairs was almost a relief. At least it diverted attention from my red face.
— WHAT WAS THAT?! — Rito's sister screamed.
— Ah... — Lala laughed nervously — I think I left one of my inventions on...
Typical Lala.
Typical Lala.
— LALA! — I exploded. — YOU AND YOUR CRAZY INVENTIONS!
— It wasn't on purpose! — she defended herself.
— It never is! — Momo added, but was smiling.
Rito's reaction.
I watched Rito-san stand up calmly, without panic, without drama.
— I'll... deal with this — he said simply.
And went up the stairs as if putting out fire caused by alien technology was... routine.
Who is this guy?
Who WAS this guy?
Return.
When he returned minutes later, without a scratch, without soot, having FIXED Lala's invention...
— Lala's inventions are notoriously complex — Momo observed, and I agreed silently. — Even our best engineers have difficulty with them.
Suspicious.
Very suspicious.
Doorbell.
Ding-dong.
When the doorbell rang and those GIRLS appeared...
Oh.
Oh.
A cute blonde named Asia who clearly adored Rito-san. A girl with PURPLE hair and eyes — beautiful combination, I admit — named Haruna who was obviously in love with him.
And the way Rito-san treated both with equal kindness...
Realization.
— Momo — I whispered — why are so many girls showing up here?
— Exactly — she whispered back with that IRRITATING smile.
Another doorbell.
When ANOTHER girl appeared — this time a demon with vibrant red hair named Rias who looked at Rito as if he were...
Four girls.
Four girls. FOUR. In less than an hour.
All clearly interested in the same guy.
— Nana-chan — Momo leaned in and whispered — I think we're about to have many sisters-in-law.
— WHAT?! — I practically shouted.
Shush.
— Shhhh — she put her finger to her lips. — Watch and learn, little sister.
Processing.
I tried to process. Rito-san, this apparently normal boy, had:
Enough power to make daddy bow
Natural kindness that mommy approved of
Ability to fix Lala's inventions
FOUR girls obviously interested in him
And had just offered to take me to see dogs
Conflicted.
I was... conflicted.
On one hand, he was clearly more complex than he appeared. On the other, there was something genuinely KIND about him that didn't seem fake.
And on yet another hand... he had agreed with me about animals being better than people.
Ugh.
— Ugh — I muttered, sinking into the chair.
— What's wrong, Nana? — Lala asked.
— Nothing — I replied quickly. — Absolutely nothing.
Lie.
Total lie.
The problem was I could see why Lala had fallen in love with him. And that irritated me because it meant he probably WAS good enough for my sister.
Which meant I had no more excuse not to like him.
Annoying.
Irritating.
Very irritating.
But also... maybe... possibly... a little bit... interesting?
No!
NO! I wasn't going to admit that! Not even to myself!
Observation continues.
But I kept watching.
And the more I watched, the more I saw:
The way he treated his sister with protective care. The way he didn't show off about his power. The way he seemed to genuinely care about the people around him.
And the way he had looked at me when he offered to take me to see dogs — no ulterior motives, no malice. Just... genuine kindness.
Damn.
Damn.
Maybe... maybe Lala had chosen well.
But I wasn't going to admit that out loud!
Never!
Never!
But maybe...
But maybe... just maybe... it would be okay to accept the invitation to the park.
Just because of the dogs, of course!
It had NOTHING to do with wanting to spend more time getting to know him!
Absolutely nothing!
Blush.
Why was my face hot again?!
Stupid face.
Stupid face.
A/N: ("As you can see, it's basically the same chapter, but from Nana's perspective, and since Nana doesn't pay attention to the conversation her father was having with RITO, just like Momo. Both have certain priorities. Momo with the idea of being happy creating a harem without having a succession conflict between the sisters. Lala who went in search of her own happiness, just like Nana, a typical tsundere girl... Now I wanted to know if I should add a strong enemy. Like Frieza, from DBZ universe, or Thanos, or Darkseid. or maybe all of them. Because this would give a reason for Gid to want to marry Lala to someone strong for his empire. And it would also explain what they would talk about. Or maybe put that the reason the Andromeda galaxy is merging with the Milky Way, thus bringing a new empire to the vicinity. Which means war of course. So what do you say?")
