"Why did you leave Connor?" It had been the very question on my mind that I had replayed over and over again until it felt like I lost my mind. I didn't understand why Connor left. I would never understand why Connor left but I knew that it broke my heart every time I held that note. The only peace I had was when I threw it into the fireplace back home. Seeing it crumple to ashes gave me an illusion that one day I would be okay.
I watched him as he let out a sigh and rolled his shoulders back, "I found out my father killed my mother because she threatened to out him. He was gay Edward and had a partner within his own force. We were just a disguise that allowed him to get better positions, a better paycheck at the end of the month. He chose to protect his partner instead and left me and Denny as orphans."
The news hit me like a tidal wave. I knew that Connor's father had done the unthinkable but the cause of it was what surprised me.
