Hayes meticulously wiped the blood from his paws onto the grass before turning toward Euphoria. She stood her ground, watching him bridge the distance between them with slow, deliberate steps. When he finally reached her, he shifted back into his human form, swept her into his arms without a word, and began the long walk back up to the castle.
Yu was standing nearby, watching them, but Euphoria couldn't bring herself to care about the King's reaction. The aura radiating from Hayes was truly terrifying.
He carried her into the room and set her gently on the bed, where the two cubs were lying listlessly. Seeing Euphoria, they crawled over to rub against her, their spirits clearly dampened by the night's trauma. Euphoria snapped out of her shock immediately, reaching for two green crystals and feeding one to each cub. She stroked their backs until their eyes brightened and they drifted into a peaceful sleep.
