I don't remember falling asleep.
One moment I was staring at the ceiling running the same thoughts in circles and the next — nothing. Just the abrupt, disorienting arrival of consciousness with no memory of leaving it.
The room was dark now with the small led light at the centre illuminating it.
Outside the window, the hot scorchness of the sun has been replaced by a cool evening air.
How long was I asleep for.
I blinked at the seemingly empty cast room, waiting for my eyes to adjust, and my brain to catch up with the basic facts of where I was and why and what had been happening before I apparently decided sleep was a reasonable option.

My back throbbed, the consequences of being asleep for so long catching up to me. My lips and throat felt so parched and my thoughts were arriving in the wrong order like shuffled cards. Petra….throwing up…the doctor….Zane….
