Chapter 41 - Meaning

As Satya uttered those words.

Silence filled the whole world.

A gentle wind brushed against Satya's wounds caressing them.

Yet that same wind was foreboding to the enemy.

Satya had called and the wind had answered.

Satya was slowly lifted above the ground.

The soldiers tried to stop him but they were unable to.

Something was stopping them from moving.

"Alas, the boy finally calmed."

An old man let out an laughter, watching all of this unfold from far away.

"But what a pity it is for those who wish to be with reality once again."

The old man's eyes are shining, it is as if he knows what would happen.

The boy's eyes let out a tint of glow and the next moment all of the stone statues are pushed back.

the closest to his thrusting their spear into the ground to stop themselves from flying back.

The boy lifts his leg, ready to walk on the wind, to crush with the wind.

One Step.

a formless force presses down on the stone statues.

all of them fall to their knees.

Second step.

cracks begin spreading through the stone.

Most of the stone statues collapsed.

But a few stubborn ones still kneel.

They reach out their hand to uncertainty.

The third step.

The ground is flattened.

All of the statues turned to dust.

Yet the hand remains.

filled with the final struggle of the stone statues.

"Three."

Twilight's eyes widen a bit.

Satya walks over to the hand.

He floats down and picks it up.

The hand had fulfilled its purpose of reaching reality.

Thus, it fell into Satya's embrace and turned into a glove on his hand.

The glove was black with white lining. It has a stone texture to it and an intricate design of spear and shield.

When Satya infused a bit of willpower into it.

A flood of memories flooded his mind.

His time as the guard, but in its entirety.

Not as a dream but as a memory of reality.

"Thank you for the gift."

Satya stood in front of the stubborn statue. The statue was stubborn in its own wishes just like Satya.

Satya gave it a bow of respect for its defiance.

The old man stepped on the ground.

In its hands the stone rubble that had been left on the bridge.

The old man slowly collected all of the dust scattered.

Together with the stones.

He built an intricate tomb.

"Twilight..."

Satya walks over to him.

"Yes, traveller."

Twilight answers without looking back.

"Won't these statues return to their original form in a bit?"

"Yes, they will."

Twilight is still paying his respects.

"Then why..... are you making this tomb?"

"To pay respects to these warriors."

Twilight joined his hands together.

"Why a tomb specifically, isn't this meaningless?"

"Meaning....huh"

Twilight let out a sigh.

"Yeah, meaning why are you doing something so meaningless.

Won't it be better to pay your respect without insulting them for what they can't be?"

"What I am doing is not meaningless. Because I..... I give it meaning.

Because I am doing it, it has meaning."

Twilight looked at the cursed sky.

"What I am showing them isn't to mock them.

It's to give them hope that the end of their misery isn't far away.

And perhaps myself too."

{A struggle against destiny.

Gains respect from destiny itself.

The hope burning in a person's heart.

Is respectable even in death.}
