The next morning.....
Mr Willis went on the farm alone. Because most of the work was done. The only work on the farm now is to chase the birds, groundhogs, and monkeys away from the farm. Leaving mommy Willis and her baby at home.
That morning, old Mrs Hopeson sent her fifth grandson, Kai, who was fourteen this year. The eldest child of the third branch. To carry baby Asher to her house.
Old Mrs Hopeson is not staying with her children. She and her husband, old Mr Hopeson, have their own house.
Their three children,
Leo Hopeson, forty-seven, Thomas Hopeson, forty-five, and Walter Hopeson, 36 years old. All have their own families. To avoid fights among their children, Old Mrs Hopeson and her husband built three houses in the same compound. After each child matured and married, they moved in.
Okay, back to where we were.
After Kai reached his uncle's (Mr Willis) home, he saw his auntie (Mrs Willis) washing baby Asher's clothes. With baby Asher sitting in the tub of clothes she was washing, playing.
"Auntie, morning, my grandma said, I should carry Asher." Said Kai.
"Thank God," said Mrs Willis in relief.
"Quickly carry him. He's not giving me chance to wash in peace." She said.
Then she instructed,
"Go in the mean room, you'll see clean clothes in the chair for him." She said.
Kai went inside for there change of clothes, then, came out to carry baby Asher from the tub. But heh, it wasn't that easy. After coaxing him for some time, Kai finally carried him to his grandmother's house.
....
Old Mrs Hopeson was sitting under her orange tree, in front of her house. On a bamboo mat. When she saw Kai bringing baby Asher from a short distance.
Right away, she started smiling.
" Ah, who am I seeing? Is that our baby Asher? Come, let grandma hold you." Old Mrs Hopeson teased.
After taking him from Kai, she laid him on the mat to change his clothes while she tickled him.
"Pa~pa.. ayy.... lift your arms let me see... Who arms is this... who gets this fine boy?" she continued, tickling and teasing him. Making baby Asher laugh loudly.
Then she looked up and saw Kai still standing in front of her. She frowned and quickly shooed him.
"What are you still doing standing in front of me? Shoo! Go, go do your work."
After Kai left, and she was done changing baby Asher's clothes. She began playing with him. A few minutes later, her seventh grandson, Joseph, arrived, driving his latest Ferrari( bicycle tyre). Along with Faith, her great- granddaughter running behind him.
"Grandma, morning again. Small destroyer, let's go play. I bought a new car for you. After you start walking, you can ride it like me."
He was attempting to pick up baby Asher, who was already crawling towards him.
When Old Mrs Hopeson gently slapped away his dirty hands.
"Go wash your hands. See how dirty and sweaty you are this morning." She chided gently
"Hmph!" Joseph huffed playfully with his chin reaching the sky. Then he pouted his mouth that was long enough to hold a bucket. And whispered
"I will be back. I know you just want to play with him by yourself, Grandma."
Then he walked away, swaying from side to side, not forgetting to ask Faith, his little tail, to follow him.
