The Heart Star blazed in Aren's hands, filling the First Kingdom with a light that neither shadow nor darkness could touch.
The falling stars hung motionless above the sky, frozen like drops of silver rain.
The Shadow King took a step backward.
"No..." he whispered. "That power was lost ages ago."
Aren could feel the crystal's warmth spreading through him. Strange voices echoed in his mind—the voices of every guardian who had protected the stars before him.
"The Heart Star does not destroy darkness," they said.
"It gives the world a choice."
The Shadow King lifted his sword of black fire and charged.
Aren raised the Heart Star.
A shield of pure light burst across the garden, stopping the attack. The force pushed the Shadow King back, while Lyra and Kael rushed to Aren's side.
"What do we do now?" Lyra asked.
Aren looked at the crystal and saw another vision.
Deep beneath the First Kingdom lay an ancient chamber called the Vault of Echoes. There rested the Forge of Stars, a place where the first guardians had shaped the light of the heavens.
Only there could the broken stars be restored without breaking the prison.
"The Forge of Stars still exists," Aren said. "We can save the stars and keep the Shadow King sealed."
The Shadow King laughed, though his voice carried a hint of fear.
"You are chasing a legend. The Forge was destroyed long before your kingdom was born."
Suddenly, the ground beneath the crystal throne split open.
A staircase of glowing stone appeared, leading into the depths of the earth.
The mysterious voice returned once more.
"The path has opened. The final journey begins."
Kael stared into the darkness below.
"If that road leads to the Forge, it will also lead us to dangers no one has ever survived."
Lyra tightened her grip on her sword.
"Then we survive together."
Aren nodded and held the Heart Star high.
The three friends stepped onto the ancient staircase.
Behind them, the Shadow King watched in silence.
He did not follow.
Instead, he smiled.
Hidden within the shadows, he whispered to an unseen figure,
"Wake the Star Hunter. They are coming."
Far below the earth, in a forgotten chamber, a pair of golden eyes slowly opened.
