The safe room was still thick with pheromones. The amber light made everything look deep and warm gold. Julius stood inside Harrison grip, one big hand around his throat and the other on his waist.
"Harrison," Julius said quietly. "Who am I to you?"
Something deep and pained showed in his burning black and gold eyes. He dropped his head until their foreheads almost touched.
"You are my bond," Harrison said. His voice came out rough and low, full of truth.
Julius looked into his eyes. "Are you sure about that?"
"Yes," Harrison breathed. His voice sounded almost fragile.
"Then explain this to me," Julius said. His voice stayed calmed. "You are in heat. I am your Alpha. You are my Enigma. And you were avoiding me. Do you know what that does to me?"
Harrison held him closer. At that moment he knew he had hurt Julius with his decision.
"It makes me feel like a stranger," Julius said. "Like I am standing outside a door that should always be open to me."
