"I don't know who you think you are, kid, but once my boss is out, you'll learn the true meaning of agony!"
Zangya spat out the words through gritted teeth. She didn't dare waste another second; Broly had already hurled the massive sphere of energy toward her. "Boss, wake up now!" she screamed, channeling every ounce of her remaining strength into a desperate punch against the lid of the sarcophagus.
Under normal circumstances, Zangya's depleted strength—now barely a fraction of its peak—would never have been enough to shatter a seal placed by the four Kais.
However, because Gran had already dismantled the core of the five-way interlocking seal, the entire structure was riddled with vulnerabilities. Even without her help, Bojack would have eventually broken free on his own. But with Zangya's strike acting as the final catalyst, the seal collapsed.
CRACK!
The lid of Bojack's tomb shattered into a thousand pieces. "Boss, save me!!" Zangya cried out, looking up just as the hundred-meter-wide energy ball reached her face.
Inside the tomb, the slumbering Bojack felt a sudden, inexplicable chill down his spine. It was the unmistakable stench of death. He snapped his eyes open, only to find a colossal sphere of emerald light inches from his nose.
"What the—?!" A string of curses erupted from Bojack's mouth as he instinctively launched himself out of the tomb. The massive energy ball slammed into his shoulder as he rose. "Zangya, what the hell is going on?!" Bojack roared. The sheer pressure of the blast was so immense that his shirt instantly shredded as his muscles bulged to resist the weight.
"I don't know, Boss! I just got out of the seal and this brat started hunting me! I nearly died!" Zangya carefully omitted the fact that she had provoked the child first.
"He's got a death wish!" Bojack didn't doubt her for a second. Now that he was free, his battle lust began to surge. A power level of 2.5 billion erupted from his body as he strained against the blast.
Watching from the void, Gran chuckled to himself. His strength is exactly where I thought it'd be. Too bad that's not going to be enough against Broly.
"Get back!" Bojack bellowed, heaving the energy ball upward as he took flight.
"Go, Boss!" Zangya cheered. She knew her leader was the strongest; that little monster was finished!
Bojack continued to push the sphere higher, and Broly—holding steady at 2 billion—actually began to give ground. "Impressive power, kid," Bojack sneered, "but if you want to kill my crew, you'll have to go through me. Die!" With a violent thrust, Bojack shoved the entire energy sphere back at its creator.
BOOM!
The massive ball of light detonated right in Broly's face. The searing heat and blinding light swallowed him whole. For a moment, he seemed paralyzed, standing perfectly still as the explosion washed over him. Zangya was ecstatic, while Gran frowned, ready to intervene. Why did he stop moving?
Suddenly... "ROAR!!"
Another surge of emerald light flickered through Broly's aura. His power level spiked instantly to 2.5 billion, matching Bojack perfectly. Gran, hidden in the space between dimensions, couldn't help but marvel. This kid is a freak. He hasn't even taken a real hit yet and he's already adapting.
Broly's small fist punched forward, shattering the remnants of the energy ball. The resulting shockwave sent a "meteor shower" of energy raining down on the planet below. Explosion after explosion rocked the surface, tearing away another third of the world's mass. If Bojack hadn't rushed back to the altar to shield the immediate area, the entire planet would have likely vaporized.
"Impossible!" Bojack's face paled as he felt the shift in Broly's energy. Zangya's cheers died in her throat. The little monster's power is still rising? Can the Boss even handle this?
In the next heartbeat, a streak of light descended from the heavens. Broly slammed into Bojack, dragging him off the altar and into the sky. The air filled with the thunderous sound of their collision. They traded blows across the heavens, but as the minutes passed, Bojack grew increasingly frantic. This child simply wouldn't stay down.
"Zangya! Where did this brat come from?!" Bojack yelled, using the force of a parry to retreat back to the altar.
"I told you, I don't know! He was just waiting there when I woke up!" Zangya pointed at the sky, her voice trembling. "Boss, he's coming back!"
"Damn it!" Bojack realized he couldn't win this alone. "Zangya, free the others! Now! We'll take him together!"
As Zangya scrambled to the other tombs, Bojack met Broly's charge once more. But this time, he felt his strength failing. "Die! Just die already!" Bojack landed on a floating piece of the continental crust and swung a desperate, full-power punch into Broly's face.
CRASH!
The force of the impact shattered the rock beneath them, pushing them both further out into the vacuum of space. Bojack expected the kid to go flying, but Broly's head merely snapped to the side before slowly turning back. His eyes were a terrifying, vacant white—the gaze of a mindless beast. In that moment, his power level exploded to 3 billion!
Broly unhinged his jaw, and a brilliant green light gathered in his mouth.
"You've got to be kidding me..." Bojack's eyes widened in horror.
A massive beam of emerald energy erupted from Broly's mouth. Point-blank. Bojack had no time to dodge; the blast caught him square in the head, followed immediately by a heavy fist to the stomach.
"GAH!" Bojack sprayed blood as he was sent careening backward.
Not bad, kid, Gran thought, watching the spectacle. He was genuinely surprised that Broly could reach such heights with only a few flickers of his legendary green aura.
However, Gran shifted his gaze to Zangya. The woman had successfully released the remaining three members of the Hera Clan: Bujin, Bido, and Gokua. One was a psychic, one a master swordsman, and the other a brute-force warrior. In the original history, these five together were a nightmare of coordination. They had nearly beaten Gohan to death before he unlocked Super Saiyan 2.
At 3 billion, Broly was likely at his current limit. Without full mastery of the Legendary Super Saiyan form, a 5-on-1 fight against the Hera Clan would result in him being tortured half to death.
That's enough, Gran decided. He's my ward, after all. I should probably step in before things get ugly. Besides, Broly's biggest hurdle wasn't power—it was his lack of control. Letting him get mauled wouldn't help that.
On the other side, Bojack crashed back onto the ruins of the altar. "Boss! Boss!" Bujin, Bido, and Gokua rushed to his side. Zangya, clutching her broken arm, helped him up. "Boss, are you alright?"
Bojack coughed up a thick glob of blood, glaring at the silhouette of the child in the sky. "Where did he come from? I swept the four galaxies years ago and never saw a monster like this!"
"Neither did we," Bujin muttered, his face grim. They had watched the fight from the moment they were freed. The kid felt no pain and only grew stronger the more you hit him. Bojack was a mess—his bandanna was gone, his torso was covered in burns and bruises, and he looked utterly defeated.
"He's coming again!" Bojack pushed Zangya aside and bared his teeth. "Remember our formation? We do this together!"
"Right!" the four lieutenants shouted in unison.
"He's a mindless beast," Bojack spat, wiping blood from his lip. "Our coordination is flawless. We kill him here, and the four galaxies are ours once more! And once he's dead, we find those four Kais and make them pay!"
But just as they prepared to launch their combined assault, a ripple of immense, divine power washed over the star system.
"Who's there?!" Bojack snapped his head toward the source of the energy. Gran had finally revealed himself. Zangya and the others froze. They couldn't sense his "ki" in the traditional sense, but the sheer weight of his presence was suffocating.
Gran stepped out of the void, his bulky gravity suit concealing his form, but his eyes radiating a cold, violet light. With every step he took through the vacuum of space, the very stars seemed to tremble.
As he walked past Broly, the mindless child actually tried to swing a fist at Gran's head. Gran didn't even look. He caught the tiny fist in the palm of his hand with effortless grace. The Hera Clan watched in silence, paralyzed. To catch that monster's punch so casually... the power gap was unfathomable.
With a quick, precise chop to the back of the neck, Gran knocked Broly unconscious. He tucked the small Saiyan under his arm and continued toward the Hera Clan.
"Lord... Great One... who are you?" Bojack stammered. He tried to stand tall but found his knees buckling under the pressure.
Gran looked at the five teal-skinned warriors. "Me?" he asked softly. "You could say I'm the one who's going to clean up this mess. You made quite a name for yourselves while Lord Beerus was sleeping, didn't you?"
"Lord Beerus?" Bojack exchanged a confused look with his crew. They had never heard the name.
"The Kais see you as galactic parasites," Gran said, his voice dropping to a sub-zero chill. "Vermin that destroy civilization for sport."
Bojack's heart skipped a beat. Something felt very wrong.
"Even a genius like Frieza is smart enough to stick to the 'real estate' business and keep some semblance of order," Gran sneered, his violet aura beginning to flare. "So tell me... how did a bunch of trash like you get the idea that you could just go around breaking things?"
Gran's hand began to glow with a deep, pulsing purple light.
