Inside the boardroom, the atmosphere had become significantly less comfortable. Leader, Thalia, and Vessara were alone. Her hands clasped tightly at her sides to hide their tremble.
Leander's voice sliced through the silence. "Why did you hide it?"
Terror coiled in her stomach. "I—"
"How the hell did you even meet Alpha Vael'Runn?" He queried.
The title alone made her heart sink. Because even now it still felt strange hearing it.
Her voice came out smaller than intended. "I didn't know he was the Vael'Runn of House Vaeroth. We met the night of Alpha Marcus's party."
A sharp gasp came from Thalia. "No way." Her hands flew to her mouth, eyes wide with a mix of shock and reluctant admiration. "He was the one you ran off with?"
Slowly, she nodded. The memories rushed in despite her efforts to hold them back.
"Wow. This is insane."
