It had a long snake-like body, spanning over a hundred metres and a head that showed similarity with a dragon's. Fearsome golden eyes graced its face and a snout big enough to devour the ship in one gulp. Whatever it was, it was powerful.
It gave a deafening shriek and instantly a mass of energy started to converge at the center of its mouth, lighting it blue. Arinthal immediately became alert and ordered the elven guard on the ship;
"Elves, fortify the barrier!"
The beast shot a laser like beam at the ship but the barrier held strong, but it managed to thin out the velori on it. Arinthal immediately called out to more of the elven guard to fortify the shield.
"What in the world is that thing?" the captain thought out loud, trying his best to maneuver the ship through the storm at the same time.
"That's Alpheus, the demigod of the sundered seas," Arinthal responded, his gaze fixated on the beast.
"That's impossible! It's just a myth!" the old elf exclaimed.
"Well, it's right in front of you. That's what I thought too, but now that I think of it, the gods must have put him there to kill off any of us who might be able to bypass the mist wall. The only way to leave here is to kill that thing," Arinthal briefed.
"And how do we do that?"
"We'll find a way," Arinthal muttered the words he himself didn't believe.
"We sure will!" came a cheerful voice from behind.
He turned to see three elves who bowed when he met their gaze.
"Who are you three? You aren't part of my guard or the delegates, so what is your mission on this ship?" Arinthal questioned.
"We are the Seekers. Our orders are from King Roran to protect you on your mission..."
"This is no time for formalities! Our shield's defense has been breached!" the captain shouted at them.
Arinthal turned to find a huge hole in the barrier, and soon it completely faded. Alpheus spared no time and dove downwards to consume their ship.
"Moonshade!"
The aetherium blade materialized in Arinthal's hand and he quickly dashed forward, poised to strike. However, before he could do so, a massive beam of flames shot towards the demigod's opened mouth, causing it to give a pained shriek. It was from the elf whose voice Arinthal had heard first. It belonged to a blonde haired beauty with bright blue eyes and a well defined face. Her body was clothed in a revealing dress showing her curvy shape and voluptuous cleavage.
"Let us help you, my prince," she said when she noticed him looking at her.
Behind her, two male elves waited for an opportunity to attack. One of them had long brown hair, blue eyes and a slender and almost feminine body structure. The other had cropped white hair, grey eyes and a muscular body. All three radiated powerful auras and as they advanced towards Alpheus, who had recovered and was speeding towards them like a snake out for blood.
The three Seekers jumped out of the boat ship, their clothes wet with rain water but their eyes glinting with determination.
The female elf created six spirals of flames whiles the white haired one enhanced them with gusts of wind. With those she created an array, trapping Alpheus in a searing hot cage of fire, giving the brown-haired elf time to channel his velori.
With his power, countless plants, vines and kelp sprung out of the water and started lashing out at the already furious demigod. Before the beast could retaliate, several slicing wind swords had created multiple cuts on his scaled body before concentrated flames were shot into those very wounds. Alpheus roared in pain and anguish before sweeping its tail at the seekers, in a desperate attempt to ward them off. That was far from sufficient though, since those three were as slippery as eels.
Arinthal watched the battle untold with surprise, yet something didn't feel right for him. Alpheus was a demigod, and it seemed that only three elves shouldn't be sufficient to defeat it.
That was when he noticed Alpheus' body glowing in an intense blue light. He shouted at the Seekers to return to the ship...
...but it was too late.
Alpheus had managed to fire a laser beam at them in quick succession. The blonde-haired elf was badly injured and lost her flames which had helped her maneuver through the storm winds stopped, causing her to fall. Arinthal caught her just as she was about to fall and laid her on the wooden deck floor. Her composure made him remember Naudra's corpse when Leonora had lain it in front of them and suddenly something snapped inside him.
He faced Alpheus with emotionless eyes and suddenly he heard Nhavae's words inside his head:
"Your magic might be unstable but use it in tune with your surroundings and you can slay the gods themselves."
So Arinthal stood firm and calmly waited, studying his surroundings. The rushing waves, the falling rain and the thunderous clouds. He could see Alpheus' large head a few metres away from the boat ship, mouth wide open but he didn't care. He just needed the right time.
Then it came.
A thunderous clap resounded and a chain of lightning followed descending straight to Arinthal.
The young prince didn't move but instead he raised Moonshade and when the tip of the blade met the lightning, his whole body started to crackle ferociously with lightning.
"You came at a bad time, Alpheus."
With that Arinthal swung his sword into a single powerful strike. A lightning sword wave followed and the demigod wound up into two different parts.
