Chapter 54 - Training

A/N: After much thought, I've decided that the Divine Dividing and the Boosted Gear would be put on hold. Yes, I don't want to make Satoru too overpowered yet. I'll surely give them to him, but not now.

...

High School DxD.

Boom!

The ground beneath Satoru's feet caved in as he shot forward like a bullet fired from a gun, crossing the distance in a second. His punch tore forward, the air around his fist compressed.

Koneko, startled, could only hastily place a hand over her chest.

Boom!

Satoru's fist didn't touch her, but the shockwave from it caused Koneko to be pushed back, her legs skidding across the arena.

Satoru didn't push on with the attack. "Storing chakra in a certain part of your body and releasing it right at the moment your fist makes contact with your opponent. That's the advanced Chakra strengthening technique," he said.

"Now. Let's get started. Attack me with all you've got, and I'll correct you," Satoru said as he stood upright.

Koneko's face became tense as a film of white energy wrapped around her body.

'Touki?' Satoru raised an eyebrow.

Boom!

Koneko moved fast, appearing in front of Satoru in an instant and punching forward.

Bang!

Her fist met Satoru's palm, which was placed in front of his chest.

"Chakra was used after you punched," he said. "Again!"

Koneko retreated and attacked again, this time with her knee.

Bang!

"Chakra is used before you attacked," Satoru said, his hand holding her knee. "Again!"

Taking advantage of his grip on her knee, Koneko spun, the tip of her foot aiming at Satoru's face.

Bang!

"Chakra is used before kicking," Satoru said, holding her leg. "Again!"

Koneko was thrown, and she immediately stood up after rolling twice, attacking once more.

The next hour passed by repetitively, with Koneko attacking and Satoru defending, his voice ringing through the ring.

"Punch was thrown before the chakra is used. Again!"

"You kicked after using Chakra. Again!"

"It really looks painful..." Asia murmured as she placed both hands over her chest, staring at Koneko in concern.

After throwing Koneko for the umpteenth time, Satoru raised a hand, stopping her.

"That's enough for today. Though you haven't mastered it, you've gotten a little better at controlling your chakra," he said. "We'll continue tomorrow."

Koneko's eyes flickered with hesitation and reluctance, but she still nodded and stepped out of the ring.

Satoru turned to Asia. "You're next."

Asia's face lost color, but she still bit her lip and walked down, standing in the ring.

"Your training won't be like the others'," Satoru said, seeing through her fear. "I'll train you on how to defend yourself. I'll teach you a technique called the New Shadow Style."

He walked up to her and tapped her shoulder. "Try to compress your demonic energy in your solar plexus, then slowly leak it out in a 2-meter radius before strengthening it."

"..."

Asia stared at Satoru blankly.

"Just compress the demonic energy in your solar plexus. Oh, yes, don't move your legs; let them be in one place," Satoru said.

Asia nodded and closed her eyes, slowly guiding her demonic energy to her solar plexus.

Unfortunately, it seemed her control wasn't strong enough. Ten minutes later—

"Cough!"

Asia coughed out blood as she staggered back.

"Asia!" Rias called her name anxiously, but Satoru's raised hand stopped her from moving.

"That's it. That's the kind of pain you'll be feeling every time you slip out of control," Satoru said as he stared at her. "So tell me. Do you still want to learn it?"

Asia stared at the ground, her fist clenching. "I-I want to. I don't want to be the one holding Buchou and the others back."

"Asia—You... Do you know what you're saying, Asia? Using this technique together with your healing... if you lose control for a second, your energy would go violent and you might die!" Rias said anxiously. Satoru had informed and briefed her on the training for all her peerage members, and the plan for Asia was to have her Sacred Gear, Twilight Healing, gain the ability to attack. But this was different; any little mistake and Asia might die!

"I know, Buchou!" Asia shouted as her shoulders trembled, her eyes reddening as she clenched her fist tighter. "But every time we fight, I'm always a burden! A fight you all could have won easily would always be dragged out because I need protection! I don't want that anymore!"

"Good conviction," Satoru smiled. "But don't worry. As long as I'm here, you won't die."

Asia nodded, her eyes filled with determination as she continued her training.

1 hour later.

Asia, soaked, coughed out another mouthful of blood, and Satoru, beside her, timely placed a hand on her back. A warm feeling surged through her body.

"That's enough. You've gotten better than before and can already concentrate 80% of your demonic energy into your solar plexus. Good job," he said.

Asia offered a weak smile and walked to Rias.

Satoru turned to Akeno. "Come on. You're next."

Watching as she stepped into the ring, he smiled and said, "You can attack me with all you've got."

Akeno blinked in confusion but complied.

Swoosh!

Akeno's wings unfurled behind her, and she shot up to the sky, magic circles materializing around her.

"Lightning Strike! Lightning Dragon! Lightning Spear!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Numerous lightning attacks struck the training ground, creating numerous craters. Rising dust and smoke clouds obscured the entire area.

After the smoke dissipated with the wind, Satoru's figure was revealed, immaculate.

Satoru raised his head and smiled at her.

"Flashy... And weak."
