I was hyped all damn day for the first time in weeks, maybe even months, because I actually had something.
A lead, a real fucking lead, an actual person... Poison.
I sat behind my desk all day, pretending to work while checking my watch every five minutes and every second felt slower than the last.
The clock hanging on my office wall became my worst enemy. I found myself staring at it constantly, counting down the hours until midnight, until we finally moved, until I finally got my hands on the bastard because if Poison talked... Then maybe, just maybe... I would finally get closer to Lucifer.
The thought alone had me grinning.
I looked up at the investigation board again.
And with everything pinned on it, the photographs, crime scene reports, maps and notes, I was only focused on one thing right in the middle of it all... Poison's sketch.
That ugly scarred face stared back at me and I narrowed my eyes.
