Chapter 53 - Ultimate Offensive Soul Beast

"Old woman, did you feel that just now?"

Meng Shu looked seriously towards a certain direction in the Star Dou Great Forest.

Strangely, his dragon-headed cane was trembling incessantly.

At the same time, Chao Tianxiang's snake staff was also trembling. Both of them were connected to their martial souls, and both felt fear emanating from their martial souls.

Chao Tianxiang tenderly stroked her snake staff, saying with surprise,

"Old man, there was indeed an extremely powerful aura sweeping past just now, but we both have weapon martial souls. How can weapon martial souls feel fear?"

"Grandpa, Grandma, what are you talking about?" Meng Yiran,

who hadn't felt anything, was completely confused.

Meng Shu didn't respond, gazing in the direction from which the aura had come, and said seriously,

"Let's not go in that direction. I suspect there might be a hundred-thousand-year-old soul beast fighting there."

"Our martial souls are already sentient; they were probably intimidated by their aura."

  "A hundred-thousand-year-old soul beast!!!"

Meng Yiran exclaimed, covering her mouth in surprise.

Seeing that Meng Shu wasn't joking, she quickly grabbed the snake woman's arm, and the three of them hurriedly headed away from the direction of the aura.

Deep within the Star Dou Great Forest, beside a vast lake,

an extremely tall black-haired gorilla paced restlessly.

"Second brother, stop pacing, I'm dizzy,"

a giant python with a bull's head said impatiently beside the gorilla.

Hearing this, the black-haired gorilla stopped, gazing uneasily in a certain direction on the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest.

"Big brother, did you feel that aura just now?"

  "Yes, I felt it." "

It was terrifying. Faced with that aura, I actually had an urge to kneel down."

  "Yes, me too."

"Then why are you so calm? I have to go see."

  "Alright, go ahead."

The bull-headed python spoke very little, and after a few words, it retreated back beneath the lake's surface.

The black-haired gorilla, on all fours, ran wildly towards the direction from which the aura had erupted. Beside

  a clear stream...

Yu Xiaowei scooped up a handful of water and splashed it on his face. The cool stream water cleared his head, which was congested with anger.

After wiping the water off his face, he began to clean the bloodstains off his body.

The blood of the Dreamy Seven-Colored Lizard was extremely corrosive, and when Yu Xiaowei had dismembered it, he had also suffered some shallow cuts from the corrosion.

The stream water stung his wounds, but this pain could not dispel the chill in his heart.

He knew clearly that what he had just seen was not real, but merely the Dreamy Seven-Colored Lizard's innate ability: hallucination.

If it were any other illusion, perhaps he wouldn't have been so violent.

But what he saw was the scene of the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Clan being wiped out.

This was Yu Xiaowei's Achilles' heel.

It was also what Yu Xiaowei feared most.

The entire clan, more than 1,800 people, were all slaughtered.

Those clansmen without soul bones were spared with intact corpses, while those with soul bones were all brutally dismembered.

The entire Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex clan was littered with corpses, a scene of utter desolation.

Whenever he recalled that hellish scene, he felt an urge to kill.

  *Hoo*

—After washing away the blood, he let out a long sigh, calming himself, and prepared to continue hunting soul beasts.

Just as he stood up to leave, he felt a sense of being watched.

A soul beast? Or a soul master?

Yu Xiaowei immediately stopped, trying to pinpoint the direction of the spying.

However, as soon as he stopped, the feeling vanished without a trace. The

moment he moved, the feeling of being watched would reappear, and the direction was constantly shifting, impossible to pinpoint precisely.

Moreover, the thing behind him was getting closer and closer.

Yu Xiaowei increased his vigilance, his muscles tense, ready to strike at any moment.

The one following him was undoubtedly a soul beast; given its powerful stealth capabilities, it must also possess an even more astonishing ability to deliver a fatal blow.

The man and the beast began circling in the forest, but Yu Xiaowei had been doing so for nearly two hours, and the incredibly patient spirit beast still wouldn't show itself.

He couldn't help but curse under his breath, "What a cunning spirit beast."

This hunting method definitely indicated it was a feline spirit beast, though he didn't know its species.

Feline spirit beasts usually hunt like this, using their aura to scare their prey into running around until the prey was completely exhausted before revealing themselves to enjoy their meal.

Since he clearly hadn't shown any signs of fatigue yet, it was unwilling to reveal itself and wanted to continue wasting time.

Having roughly guessed the spirit beast's habits,

Yu Xiaowei feigned back and leg pain, rubbing his lower back and massaging his legs, before swaying leisurely towards the stream he had been approaching.

There, the trees were sparser, increasing the chances of the feline spirit beast being exposed.

Sure enough, as he approached the stream, the aura behind him hesitated noticeably, but seeing that Yu Xiaowei seemed exhausted, the soul beast still chose to follow.

Along the way, Yu Xiaowei would occasionally slump his shoulders or stretch his legs, deliberately making his steps unsteady.

Upon reaching the stream, he immediately pounced.

Just as he crouched down in a drinking posture, a sudden gust of wind attacked him from behind.

  "It's here."

Yu Xiaowei was delighted. Just as he had predicted, in the mind of a soul beast, drinking water was when its prey was least alert.

Simultaneously activating his Godzilla martial soul, he fiercely lashed out with his tail at the attacking soul beast.

  A clang—

the sound of metal clashing rang out.

The usually indestructible tail whip had actually been blocked by this soul beast.

Feeling a burning sensation on his tail, Yu Xiaowei was startled and quickly turned around.

When he saw the tiger-shaped soul beast before him, his mind went blank.

This was a Crimson Gold Tiger, an extremely powerful offensive soul beast, all its attributes focused on attack and strength. It was incredibly fast, but its defense was only average, especially its skull, which was extremely fragile. This was why it particularly favored hunting methods that depleted its prey's strength first. The Crimson Gold Tiger's other

characteristics were recorded in the Yu family's soul beast chart.

First, it was indestructible; no matter what kind of defense you had, even a Xuanwu's tortoise shell, it could break through with a single claw.

Second, the wounds it inflicted healed extremely slowly. For example, Yu Xiaowei's tail now had three bloody wounds; even with Godzilla's powerful self-healing ability, it would take at least half a day to recover.

Thirdly, while its physical defense is average, its fur is immune to elemental damage, rendering it impervious to water, fire, wind, and thunder. Therefore, melee combat is the only option.

In the ranking of soul beasts most suitable for offensive soul masters, it ranks fifth, ahead of top-tier bloodline soul beasts like the Titan Giant Ape.

And in the ranking of the most formidable soul beasts, it ranks among the top three.

Most absurdly, unlike other tiger-type soul beasts that grow larger with age, this creature's size stabilizes after adulthood.

The crimson-gold tiger before him was only about three meters long, roughly the size of a normal thousand-year-old soul beast.

However, judging from the length of its tail, it was likely a soul beast approaching fifteen thousand years old.

Facing such a terrifying soul beast, Yu Xiaowei dared not be careless, activating both his Source of Power and Demon God Body.

The crimson-gold tiger gracefully circled him with an arrogant gait, seemingly searching for his weakness.

Yu Xiaowei dared not launch a preemptive attack. His unexpected tail whip strike had been blocked by the Crimson Tiger, demonstrating its terrifying reaction and speed.

A hasty offensive would likely expose his weakness.

After a brief stalemate, the Crimson Tiger launched its attack, its figure blurring into a blur.

  Fast! Truly fast!

Yu Xiaowei couldn't even see its movements.

But he calmly stomped his foot, and a nuclear radiation field instantly erupted around him.

He hadn't activated the field earlier precisely for this moment.

The Crimson Tiger's fur could withstand elemental damage, but it couldn't withstand the control effects of nuclear radiation.

The previously vanished Crimson Tiger reappeared before Yu Xiaowei, who punched its head hard. The Crimson Tiger swung its claws, inflicting three long wounds on his chest.

  Drip, drip—

in just moments, the blood dripping from Yu Xiaowei's chest had stained the ground red.

The Crimson Tiger's claw tore even Godzilla's scales into three massive gashes. If it weren't for the delay caused by the nuclear radiation field, Yu Xiaowei would likely have been disemboweled.

  Truly an ultimate offensive weapon.

The Crimson Tiger opposite Yu Xiaowei wasn't faring much better.

It struggled to its feet, barely able to stand, shaking its head repeatedly. The punch Yu Xiaowei had landed on its head had left it dizzy and disoriented.

Staring with its enormous tiger eyes, the Crimson Tiger looked utterly bewildered, seemingly wondering what had caused its sudden dizziness.

The battle had barely begun, and both the human and the spirit beast had sustained significant injuries.

Yu Xiaowei stared at the Crimson Tiger, pondering how to turn the tide.

Damn it, the family records are wrong.

This thing's head is incredibly hard. Even with his terrifying strength, amplified by two hundred percent, and the sharp aura of his spirit bone's punches, he still couldn't break its skull.

The nuclear radiation zone remained activated, and the Crimson Tiger noticed that all the vegetation within the circular area surrounding Yu Xiaowei was rapidly withering.

Just as it was about to leap out of the circle, a white flame shimmering with blue light shot out of Yu Xiaowei's mouth, aimed directly at the Crimson Tiger's face.

The Crimson Tiger snorted, revealing a disdainful expression, and braced itself, intending to use its fur to withstand the incandescent light.

However, after consuming the Ice-Fire Grass, the incandescent light, in addition to its high temperature associated with fire, had gained a new attribute: it could explode.

  Boom!

With a deafening explosion, the Crimson Tiger was instantly blasted away, and spots of blood were clearly visible seeping from its crimson fur.

Having been knocked away once again, the Crimson Tiger was utterly enraged.

The explosion of the incandescent light, while not particularly damaging, was extremely humiliating to it.

It, the Crimson Tiger, the overlord of the forest, had been injured time and again by a weak human.

Just as it rose, shook itself, and prepared to attack again, a blue light illuminated the entire area.

An incredibly thick blue beam of light slammed into the Crimson Gold Tiger, which had just gotten up.

A small mushroom cloud rose into the forest.

The powerful shockwave spread out in a ring, and a fierce wind raged through the trees, causing them to rustle and large leaves to fall. The pebbles on the ground bounced violently.

Yu Xiaowei, whose soul power had been depleted by the attack, clutched his still-bleeding chest, enduring the waves of dizziness in his head. Under the mushroom cloud, he found the Crimson Gold Tiger, its flesh mangled beyond recognition.

Just as he raised his left leg, preparing to finish off the tiger,

the Crimson Gold Tiger's tightly closed eyes suddenly snapped open. With its only remaining claw, it viciously plunged it into Yu Xiaowei's abdomen, the sharp claw protruding directly from his back.

  "Ah—!"

The excruciating pain drove Yu Xiaowei to madness. He grabbed the Crimson Gold Tiger's paws with both hands, then opened his mouth and viciously bit into its neck.

The warm tiger blood entered his mouth, and Yu Xiaowei was astonished to find that the wounds torn by the Crimson Gold Tiger were healing rapidly.

This was something not recorded in the Yu family's Soul Beast Chart.

The Crimson Gold Tiger's blood was the best medicine for treating its wounds.

The fierce battle finally ended when the Crimson Gold Tiger completely lost its breath, and a black soul ring rose from its corpse.

Covered in blood, Yu Xiaowei collapsed to the ground, a bitter smile of a victor on his face.

This was the strongest challenge he had ever faced. This crimson-gold tiger, comparable to a high-level Soul King, had for the first time put him in a life-or-death situation.

But in the end, he still won.
