Chapter 24: The First Training of the Air Element
The morning sun had not yet fully risen. A soft golden light spread across the vast field while the cool breeze danced through the leaves, creating a gentle whisper in the air.
Silence surrounded everything.
Only the sound of the wind could be heard.
Towering mountains stood on both sides of the open field, as if they had gathered to witness this very moment.
Obito, Wang, and Jim stood in the middle of the field.
Obito looked at Wang. His eyes carried both the warmth of a father and the discipline of a master.
In a calm voice, he said,
"Before your wedding, you must gain complete control over the Air Element."
"It is not merely a power..."
"It is the language of nature."
"If you learn to understand that language, your entire life will change."
Wang nodded confidently.
"I'm ready, Father."
A faint smile appeared on Obito's face.
"Then... let's begin."
He slowly raised his right hand and gently moved his fingers.
Suddenly—
Whoooooosh...
The winds flowing around them began gathering into a single direction.
Countless streams of air spiraled around one another.
Within moments, a transparent, glowing Air Sphere appeared.
Inside it, fierce currents of wind swirled continuously, like a tiny hurricane imprisoned within a perfect sphere.
Obito made only the slightest gesture.
"Go."
WHOOSH!
The sphere shot toward Wang with the speed of lightning.
Wang flinched in surprise.
But instead of striking him, the sphere began circling gently around his body.
Thousands of cool currents brushed against his skin.
For a brief moment, it felt as though nature itself had recognized him.
A few moments later, the Air Sphere slowly returned to Obito's palm and silently disappeared.
Obito took a deep breath.
"This..."
"is the true power of nature."
He looked up at the sky.
"The wind doesn't simply blow..."
"It is alive."
"It listens."
"It feels."
"And it responds."
Turning back toward Wang, he continued,
"If you master the Air Element completely..."
"You can create walls of wind..."
"Summon devastating storms..."
"Travel hundreds of meters in a single instant..."
"And even shake mountains using nothing but air pressure."
His voice became serious.
"But remember..."
"If this power falls into the wrong hands..."
"It can steal a person's very breath in an instant."
Wang's eyes widened with astonishment.
Obito placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Power is not meant for destruction."
"It exists to protect."
"A true king does not love war..."
"But he is always prepared for it."
"That is the lesson you must learn, Wang."
With those words, Obito spread both of his arms.
WHOOOOOOSH!
The wind began spiraling around him.
His clothes fluttered violently, yet his feet did not move even an inch.
He spoke softly,
"Don't try to see the wind..."
"Feel it."
"It surrounds you..."
"And it exists within you."
"Every breath you take..."
"Is the Air Element."
"Our bodies are not separate from nature."
"We are a part of it."
"Just as..."
"Air..."
"Water..."
"Heat..."
"And Earth..."
"Are essential for life..."
"Life also gives meaning to these elements."
"Humankind and nature are connected."
"They complete one another."
Wang slowly closed his eyes.
He focused all of his attention on his breathing.
One minute...
Two minutes...
Five minutes...
The only sound was the endless whisper of the wind.
He could clearly feel the air flowing around him.
But...
He could not connect with the air within himself.
Ssssshhhh...
A long time passed.
Nothing happened.
Finally, Obito asked gently,
"Did you feel the wind?"
Wang slowly nodded.
"Yes..."
"I can feel the wind around me..."
"But..."
"I can't control it."
"And I can't sense the air inside my own body."
After a long silence, he asked helplessly,
"Why?"
Suddenly, he clenched his fist.
"Why can't I do it?"
His voice carried both frustration and anger.
Jim had been silently watching everything.
He stepped closer to Obito.
"If you truly want him to connect with the Air Element..."
"Take him somewhere..."
"Where the wind flows in its purest form."
"To the highest mountains..."
"Where powerful winds scream without end."
"I'll prepare the car immediately."
Jim had barely turned around when Obito smiled.
"We won't need a car."
Wang looked at him in surprise.
"Why?"
Jim simply smiled.
He already knew what Obito was about to do.
Without saying another word, Obito firmly grabbed Jim's arm with one hand and Wang's with the other.
The very next moment—
WHOOOOOOOOOSH!
The surrounding air transformed into a raging storm.
Dust shot into the sky.
Trees bent violently.
The earth trembled beneath them.
Then...
Obito's feet slowly lifted from the ground.
Within seconds...
All three of them were floating high in the air.
Wang's eyes widened.
"H-How is this possible?"
Obito smiled.
"I'm not falling."
"I'm flying with the support of the wind."
"The day you truly master the Air Element..."
"You too will soar through the sky like a bird, without wings."
He extended his hand.
The wind changed direction.
WHOOOOOOOSH!
They shot upward at lightning speed.
Cloud after cloud disappeared beneath them.
Mountains...
Forests...
And rivers...
All became tiny beneath their feet.
Moments later...
They landed on the summit of one of the highest mountains in the world.
ROOOOOOOAR!
Violent winds howled from every direction.
The air pressure was so overwhelming that an ordinary human would have been thrown hundreds of feet into the abyss in an instant.
Wang struggled just to remain standing.
Yet...
Obito stood perfectly still.
It was as though every current of wind was waiting for his command.
He slowly raised his hand toward the sky.
Countless circles of wind formed around him.
Looking at Wang, he said,
"Wang..."
"This is the place..."
"Where you will no longer hear the wind..."
"You will feel its soul."
"Within every part of your body..."
"Every vein..."
"Every breath..."
"You will learn to sense its presence."
"When you recognize the wind within yourself..."
"Only then will the wind outside hear your voice."
"And the day nature accepts you..."
"You will no longer command the wind..."
"The wind itself will begin to move according to your will."
Obito gently closed his eyes.
The raging storm suddenly became calm.
It was as if the entire atmosphere had fallen silent out of respect for him.
He quietly said,
"From this day forward..."
"Your true training begins."
Wang took a deep breath.
He closed his eyes and, for the very first time, poured all of his focus into sensing the wind flowing through every breath, every heartbeat, and every particle of his body.
Far beyond the horizon, the sun had fully risen.
And at that very moment...
A new journey had begun.
