Chapter 76: Revenge, Blood for Blood
"What? There's news?"
Inside a secret room of the Shi Family, the disfigured Shi Feng cried out in surprise, an indescribable light flickering in his only remaining eye.
"You're saying you found a way to restore my face?"
"Yes, Eldest Young Master," the manor's butler replied, bowing respectfully to Shi Feng. He tried his best to avoid looking at Shi Feng's face and to ignore the blood trickling across the floor from the maidservant who had died with her eyes wide open.
Ever since Shi Feng had been disfigured, then expelled from Shrek Academy after failing to receive help, his already terrible temper had become even more violent. He would beat or kill servants at the slightest provocation. In the past year alone, seven or eight bodies had been dumped outside the city, and even more people had simply vanished.
Among them were both men and women, and some had died in truly gruesome ways.
If the family head had not still felt some affection for him, Shi Feng would have long since been treated as an Evil Spirit Master and beaten to death for such behavior.
"A Spirit Master calling himself the Great Sage Spirit demonstrated a special... secret technique... Young Master, please take a look."
"Why didn't you just capture that so-called Great Sage Spirit and torture the secret technique out of him? Do you have a death wish?"
Shi Feng stomped violently onto the dead maid's face. His foot sank straight into her head, causing blood and brain matter to splatter outward.
"That person has five Spirit Rings. He is a Spirit King... Even the Master might not be his match. That expert said he is waiting for you outside the city," the butler said, suppressing his terror.
"Good, good! Even an expert like that thinks highly of me. It seems I really can succeed!" Shi Feng's expression changed instantly as he spoke deliriously.
"Quickly, take me there, or I'll kill you!"
"Yes, Young Master."
Slap!
Shi Feng slapped the butler across the face, murderous intent flashing in his single eye.
"What did you say?"
"Yes, Eldest Young Master!" the butler forced out a smile despite the burning pain on his face.
"If there's a next time, you'd better watch your head," Shi Feng said with a sinister grin.
"Yes, yes."
The butler carefully led Shi Feng through an underground passage to the outskirts of the city, where they found the Great Sage Spirit in a desolate area.
The conversation went as smoothly as Shi Feng had imagined. The unknown powerhouse was very satisfied with his talent, even remarking that Shrek Academy had been blind to waste his potential.
After a brief exchange, he offered to take Shi Feng as a disciple and teach him the secret technique to restore his face and eye.
What Shi Feng needed to do as a disciple was extremely simple. He only had to provide enough people and living souls.
Shi Feng had always looked down on commoners and Spirit Masters without backgrounds. After his face was ruined, his strength reached a bottleneck, and he was expelled from Shrek, he had become even more extreme.
Since he only needed to provide the lives of some low-born wretches to gain such an opportunity, Shi Feng naturally agreed without hesitation.
However, after performing the apprenticeship rites and receiving the secret technique, Shi Feng frowned as he looked at the restrictions recorded within it.
"Master, does this secret technique truly have such a restriction? Can't the lives of those wretches be used? Must I use my own blood relatives to restore my face?"
"Jie jie jie, you said it yourself. They are wretches. Can the life of a wretch compare to that of a Spirit Master? Can the Bloodline of a commoner compare to that of a Spirit Master? How could such a good thing be so easy?" the Great Sage Spirit cackled from beneath his black robe.
"True. It should be paid for with the lives of noble Spirit Masters." Hearing this explanation, Shi Feng nodded in agreement.
"Master, it's just... what should I do?"
"Do I really need to teach you that? Are there people in your family you've always hated? Has anyone mocked you? Now is the time for them to pay you back!" the black-robed man tempted.
"Yes, yes, exactly!" Shi Feng's face turned fanatical. Clearly, he had understood everything.
Hearing this, the butler's expression changed, and he tried to flee. But before he could get far, Shi Feng's wolf claws pierced through his chest.
Over the next few days, people within the Shi Family constantly went missing.
First, it was some unimportant family disciples. Then, it gradually became members of the main branch. Before an internal investigation could even begin, the Second Young Master of the Shi Family, who was considered the only hope of the family's new generation, also vanished.
At this point, the Shi Family could finally endure no longer.
The Shi Family Head, Shi Shan, and his son, the Grand Elder Shi Hai, furiously sought out Shi Feng, demanding an explanation from the former Eldest Young Master.
In reality, the two of them knew that Shi Feng was attempting to cultivate evil arts. They had simply pretended not to see it. When Shi Feng first started targeting unimportant members of the family, they had noticed, but they were still hesitating.
It was not until Shi Feng killed his own younger brother, who had returned from Shrek Academy for a visit, that the two finally decided they could no longer tolerate it. Shi Feng had to give them an answer.
Facing his father and grandfather, who had suddenly stormed into the secret room, Shi Feng was so frightened that his soul nearly left his body and his spirit almost scattered.
"You... how could you possibly know what I'm doing?"
"What makes you think we wouldn't know?" Shi Shan looked at his grandson with a face full of rage. "We know everything you've done. If you were merely being immature and killing wretches to vent your anger, that would be one thing. We could even turn a blind eye to you acting against distant relatives, but you absolutely should not have touched your brother!"
"You knew everything? Then why didn't you stop me from being ambushed back then!"
Shi Feng felt a moment of fear, but it was quickly swallowed by a nameless rage surging from his gut to his heart.
"You unfilial son!"
Shi Hai slapped Shi Feng across the face, which had only just begun to fill out slightly. Unexpectedly, the swollen flesh burst open, turning into rotten meat that sprayed out churning pus and a foul stench.
"My face! My face!"
Shi Feng screamed, clutching his head.
"You're all bastards! All of you! I only wanted to take back what was rightfully mine! I only killed those who looked down on me! What right do you have to hit me? What right?!"
"Master! Master!"
Following Shi Feng's screams, a cold wind rose within the blood-soaked basement.
A figure in a black robe appeared in the corner at some unknown time, staring fixedly at Shi Shan and Shi Hai with eyes that emitted a green glow.
"You actually got caught? What a waste," the black-robed man said, looking at Shi Feng with displeasure.
"Master, save me!" Shi Feng knelt before the black-robed man, barking like a wild dog.
"Tsk, useless. But since we've been discovered, we absolutely cannot leave any survivors..."
The black-robed man laughed sinisterly and released his Spirit.
Five Spirit Rings, three yellow, one purple, and one black, appeared around him as a dark and terrifying aura filled the room.
"As of today, not a single soul in the Shi Family will be left alive!"
