A dreadful silence fell between them for a brief moment, as if the wind had stopped around them.
For the first time since stepping outside the cafeteria, Earl had realized something terrifying.
They had unknowingly wandered far away from the academy, but he couldn't ponder…how could none of them have noticed it before?
Were they so dazed…as if an imaginary force had dragged them both here?
"Earl...what do we do now? I-I really don't know the way back." Ren's trembling voice retrieved his senses when Earl exhaled a long sigh.
Desperately, he started looking around them for any hint of those giant academy buildings, but they were all gone.
After a relentless moment of search, he realized the buildings seemed to be so far away from them that they appeared like tiny dots hidden beyond those thick layers of trees.
"Shit."
Earl cursed under his breath, but by then, Ren's face had gone pale as he murmured.
