Chapter 6 - The Boy Nobody Chose.

My name is Lucas Reed. A month before my biological parents come in front of my door.

I was happy that they found me and finally reunited with my family but…this was all my expectations reality hit hard.

Two months ago.

Rain heavily poured outside the old classics apartment.

The hallway lights flickered weakly while cold wind entered through the broken windows.

Lucas was going to sleep because he was tired from his part-time job but suddenly someone knocked on his door.

Knock. Knock.

He frowned slightly because nobody usually visited him late at night.

'Who the hell came tonight? They don't have any manners.' he thought with anger.

He walked towards the door to check who was disturbing him this late night. When he opened the door— he froze.

A young Lucas stood nervously at the door he saw a man was wearing a black coat with tie his eyes was sharp, black and some part of hairs are white and besides a woman was standing she wearing a elegant dress, her black short hair, calm eyes and beautiful face.

They looked at the boy and he looked frightened and confused yet he controlled his emotions and put confidence in his eyes.

'Damm, they are robbers, kidnappers or organ traders.'

His eyes are full of confusion why these two people are standing in front of his door.

'Judging their clothes and aura surrounding them was noble.' he thought.

He asked them with curiosity, "Who are you guys, and what business do you have?"

"I know that what I am about to tell you will sound a little strange to you." that man said with a smile and nervous tone.

Suddenly, the heavy atmosphere shifted from serious to light, easy and open to conversation. Lucas relaxed, his shoulders dropping as the tension melted away.

"Then you don't need to tell—I'm going to sleep," Lucas said with a smile and given out an awkward laugh.

His hand reached toward the door handle to close it but the man suddenly rushed forward the door then jamming the door with his foot in the doorway and forcing the door back open.

Lucas pushed against it trying to shut it again, their hands meeting in a quiet struggle.

"Hi, don't close, I am not finished talking to you." the man pleaded, his eyes wide with urgency.

At that moment an elegant woman standing behind the man seeing them act like a child she laughed and finally spoke softly.

"Lucas…"

Her voice trembled slightly because in her heart there is guilt towards Lucas.

"We are your parents."

The hallway became completely silent even though the sound of rain outside suddenly felt distant. It felt like a time pause for a few seconds.

Lucas stopped moving.

His hand slowly loosened from the door.

"…What?"

In the Reed family Mansion.

Lucas sat silently inside a luxurious mansion large enough to resemble a palace.

Everything felt unreal to him. It's more like a dream to sit on the sofa inside the luxurious mansion.

Crystal chandeliers, marble floors are shining like a mirror and servants standing quietly nearby him.

It's like he was a lost prince who returned to the palace.

The Reed Family—

One of the most influential among the Second class families in the country. So, it's normal if they want to find someone it's easy for them.

They made a team to collect the blood samples from all orphanages of kids who 22 years ago present in the orphanage then matched with Reed family.

After so many years they finally find their long lost son and according to DNA tests they got from the orphanage… Lucas was their real biological son.

Lucas lowered his eyes quietly.

A month ago, he lived in a tiny apartment where he had to worry about every single thing like an electricity bill, rent of apartment etc. but now it's different.

Now servants asked him what kind of tea he preferred to drink and served him daily thinking about how he couldn't help but smile.

At that moment—

A young woman entered the room.

A young woman entered the room.

A young woman aged 25, with a beautiful face black eyes, black long hair and a stunning figure.

Eva Reed his big sister and Eldest daughter of Reed family.

"Dad, in my eyes there is only one young Master and my brother is Adrian." she said with a mocking tone and while her eyes focused on Lucas.

'This was clearly that she was saying that she will never acknowledge me as her brother.' he thought.

Across the room, another young man with black-wolf cut hairstyle, calm eyes and innocent face. He calmly drank tea while observing everything silently.

Adrian Reed.

The adopted son was raised by the Reed Family for years after Lucas disappeared as a child.

Adrian smiled gently toward Lucas.

"Don't misunderstand Eva."

"She's simply worried because this situation is sudden."

'Fuck when these old couples make a team to search him look like I am about to lose my position as Young Master of Reed family' Adrian thaught.

His tone sounded kind.

But somehow—

Lucas felt distant coldness hidden beneath those words.

Like someone politely protecting what already belonged to him.

The family head suddenly spoke firmly.

"Enough."

His sharp eyes moved toward Eva.

"Lucas is my son, that fact will not change."

Eva remained silent for several seconds.

Then she looked directly at Lucas.

"You may have the Reed bloodline."

"But you can't compare to brother Adrian."

Without waiting for him to reply, she turned around and left towards her room.

Adrian is worried about him but inside feels happy like he won.

'I just need to make a situation where the whole family sees him as a waste, ungrateful and scumbag. Then he will be kicked out of the family and I am the only one who inherited the fortune of the Reed family,' he thought with an evil smile.

Mom asked Adrian, "go and try to explain to Eva."

Adrian went from there to talk with Eva.

The atmosphere became awkward again.

Lucas quietly sat there while looking at the luxurious surroundings.

Everything looked beautiful yet somehow his heart felt more uncomfortable here than inside his tiny apartment.

At least there…

Nobody looked at him like an outsider.
