Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: Fierce Battle, Subduing the King Venusaur

A blue aura of psychic power coated Aerodactyl's serrated fangs. In an instant, Aerodactyl used Agility and vanished from its original position, leaving behind only a blurred afterimage.

Pain instantly pierced Venusaur's nerves as Aerodactyl's jagged teeth clamped tightly into its flesh. With the boost from its Tough Claws ability, the power of this Psychic Fangs attack was increased by a full 30%.

Unable to endure the pain, Venusaur struggled frantically. Sixteen vines shot out rapidly, whipping Aerodactyl's body again and again.

Sensing it wasn't worth the trade, Aerodactyl quickly retreated, avoiding further stamina loss from Venusaur.

Venusaur panted heavily and used Synthesis to recover half of its stamina, but the lingering pain continued to torment its nerves—this was the pride of Aerodactyl's serrated fangs.

Countless vines condensed into a thick, massive green whip. Controlling it, Venusaur lashed toward Aerodactyl, unleashing Power Whip.

"Use Fire Fang!"

Aerodactyl flapped its wings and dodged ahead of time, then opened its mouth. Its flame-covered fangs shredded the massive vine, and the fire spread downward along it.

Seeing this, Venusaur immediately cut off the burning vine, then the flower on its back launched a massive seed. Using Seed Bomb, it struck Aerodactyl's body.

After being hit, Aerodactyl couldn't help but gasp for breath. After all, its strengths lay in attack and speed—defense was never its advantage.

"Aerodactyl, use Stone Edge!"

Sharp stone blades floated around Aerodactyl once more. Under its control, they shot straight toward Venusaur.

Seeing this, Venusaur immediately used Razor Leaf to counter the incoming Stone Edge. But Aerodactyl once again vanished from its sight.

"Wing Attack!"

Aerodactyl spread its powerful wings and slammed into Venusaur. The super-effective damage nearly overwhelmed it.

Wing Attack was also a contact move, so it received the same 30% boost from Tough Claws. Combined with Flying-type's double effectiveness against Venusaur, it was easy to imagine just how devastating the attack was.

"Why has your power become so strong?!" Venusaur roared in confusion. Both had undergone Mega Evolution—so why had the gap between them grown so vast?

(This guy must be hiding a power I don't have!)

Venusaur came to that conclusion. After multiple Mega Evolutions, it knew its ability would change. But during this battle, it realized Aerodactyl's Pressure ability was still continuously draining its stamina.

This puzzled Venusaur. Could a Pokémon really possess two abilities at once?

"Because this is my master's power!" Aerodactyl said proudly, secretly delighted by its own strength.

"Venusaur, let's end this with one final clash. I know your stamina won't last through a prolonged battle," Red suggested.

"Vena…"

Venusaur hesitated for a moment before agreeing. Though it would lose some of its dignity as king in front of its subjects, it didn't care much—it wanted to witness a broader sky.

To reach that realm, Venusaur wished to follow Red, to become even stronger. That was its desire. No battle-loving Pokémon would refuse the chance to grow stronger.

Unless it was one of those that willingly became mere pets—but for Venusaur, only battle could truly ignite its passion for life.

Channeling the power of nature, Venusaur stomped the ground fiercely. Countless thick, barbed vines sprouted from underground, growing at a visible speed. In mere moments, they expanded enough to cover the sky.

Under Venusaur's control, the massive thorns surged upward, devouring the Aerodactyl in the air.

Seeing this, Aerodactyl immediately opened its mouth and used Flamethrower. The blazing flames scorched the thorns, but the effect was minimal—instead, it only added damage marks to them.

The thorny vines, now crackling with sparks, slammed into Aerodactyl. The force was so great it pressed Aerodactyl to the ground, nearly preventing it from flapping its wings.

Frenzy Plant was Venusaur's final trump card. After seeing that even this move couldn't defeat Aerodactyl, it struggled to move—but the cost of using Frenzy Plant was a temporary state of immobility.

This negative state laid the foundation for Aerodactyl's victory.

Aerodactyl had no intention of letting Venusaur off. It flapped its massive wings wildly, soaring into the sky, then folded them and plunged downward—using Giga Impact.

With all its strength, Aerodactyl slammed heavily into Venusaur. The impact tilted Venusaur's massive body, and in the blink of an eye, it collapsed to the ground.

Seeing Venusaur lose its ability to battle, Red threw a Poké Ball. It struck Venusaur and turned it into a beam of red light, absorbing it inside.

Perhaps recognizing Red's strength, Venusaur didn't struggle at all and was perfectly captured.

Though they wished to save their king from "suffering," the Ivysaur could only remain where they were. Aerodactyl's serrated fangs were no joke—they weren't foolish enough to think they could defeat it alone.

As for why they didn't attack together—after all, the saying goes, "the first to act gets shot." None of the Ivysaur were willing to sacrifice themselves, even for their former king.

"Come out, Venusaur!"

Red released the newly captured Venusaur and used the Power of Viridian to heal its injuries. Venusaur happily narrowed its eyes, enjoying the pure energy—far more refined than natural power—as it healed its body.

Venusaur gradually resonated with the Power of Viridian. The Evolution Stone on its flower slipped into Red's hand. Seeing this, Venusaur excitedly nudged Red's palm, signaling for him to accept it, so it could, like Aerodactyl, truly unleash the full power of Mega Evolution.

Unfortunately, Venusaur misunderstood. Its Mega Evolution was already nearly perfect, with no real flaws. The difference was that Red could stack three abilities—something ordinary Pokémon couldn't achieve through Mega Evolution alone.
